Quoted: OK, why was the 6.8 a bad idea?

Do a search on my posts over the last year.
Unreliable - bigger ammo doesnt feed through a magwell designed for smaller ammo
case capacity sucks - no future in a bolt gun either
pressure had to be tuned down because fire control groups were being destroyed and receivers cracked.
the ammo Horandy is coming out with is much tamer that the original - If you had an 18" w/std gas system that worked fine with the original ammo - odds are(and has been the case) the new factory ammo wont run without opening the gas port - so you will only be seeing mid gas systems.
For the casual shooter it may work just fine, as do the 6mm PPC, 6.5Grendle, 6BR, etc..
Holliger has already taken the 6.8 case and necked it down to 6mm.
For LEO/Military, its not gonna happen.
I plan on focusing and offering the two rifle calibers I consider "worthy" 5.56 and 7.62.
The more I think about it, if you need a 5.56 barrel longer than 16", it should be an AR10
Logistics are a bitch, so stick to what avaliable and is going to be available.
ArmaLite had their SASS submission on display, along with a prototype of the new AR10 mag; which really got the wheels turning.
