Hi,
I noticed the handguard on my new Varmit upper is not aligned when considering the sling studs position in relation to the receiver plumb center. I want to mount a delrin plate for use with my benchrest so it's important to me that it is centered properly.

The handguard is the standard (YMH?) aluminum round with flutes and textured grip that comes stock with the RRA varmit. Can I just loosen the lock ring and rotate the handguard? What is the ideal tool to use to loosen the lock ring without scratching it? Will a grip wrench get the lock ring loose? Does RRA use loc-tite? I would think a spanner wrench would mar the finish and I do not want to consider using a punch.

Any tips will be appreciated,
mike

Mike,
It's one of our new units, and apparently didn't get installed correctly.
Call our sales dept.at 866-980-7625 to get a return authorization for the upper half and we'll fix you up.

Steve,
Thanks for the generous offer but I would really rather do it myself. Is the YHM jamb nut wrench the best fit?

thanks,

It isn't a YHM rig, but I believe their wrench will be the closest that you would have access to.  Don'y forget to heat it to loosen up the Loc-Tite.
