I just picked up a PVS-14 and the crazy amount of accessories that go along with it from clasky. What a great guy and company to deal with.
I do have a few questions. Can I use it in the middle of the day to train if I am using the daylight filter? Will IR lasers be visible through it still? How can I harm it. If I am using it indoors and someone turns on a light will it damage the tube? Any other things I need to know to avoid damaging the unit? Any other general advice for maintenance and care? Thanks for the help! |

Thanks for the help! The daylight filter is used for day operations but we do not recommend using the unit in outside daylight even with the day filter. I suggest more indoors work with the day filter. Your IR laser depending on the power output would be VERY dim indoors and not work very well outdoors during the day with the day filter. As for maintenance, pretty much maintenance free and treat like you care for any high end day optic. I would add, to always store the units without the batteries as batteries can explode and ALWAYS use alkaline or lithium, NO rechargeable batteries as their voltage fluctuates at time. With just about 36 - 40 continuous hours on a single AA, no reason to use rechargeables anyhow. One other point ITT also recommends is to power up the unit once a month for 5-10 minutes to dissipate any power surges that might occur. Hope this helps. Vic |
