Just purchased a Vented Free Float Handguard from DPMS, and the front sight post touches the tube, making it not Free Floated at all! Am I going to have to file/machine down the back side of my sight post? Am fix info would be greatly appreciated!
Our shop has installed many free-float tubes on AR's and once in a while the front sight will make contact with the tube. We usually take the difference off the back of the sight, then use cold blue to touch up the metal. I hope that this helps. John K2
Well, best guess is that their extension to sight base length is too short. We install our free float tubes every day on various manufacturer's uppers and barrels in our shop, so they are made to standard.
