Do all the 5.56 have the FA?
Do all the 7.62 Not have the FA? Just curious. |

I don't think any of the 7.62 offer a FA. Which is the main reason I will not be buying a LaRue in 7.62.
I really wish they would add a FA to the 7.62 rifles, because then I would buy one. And before people start jumping on me for saying the rifle doesn't need a FA, I require one. I'm not going to walk through the woods and quietly climb my deer stand just to slam the bolt home and make a bunch of noise. I like to ride the charging handle, and use the FA to close the bolt all the way. You know, all quiet like. |

Quoted: My bad I missed the not in your second line. None of the heavies have the FA. And I'm sorry to have to say it but anyone who can't quietly chamber a round in a 762 OBR without a forward assist simply lacks imagination. +87 Open the dust cover and look at the side of the bolt carrier, the little cutout is there to push the bolt forward with. |

Yes. This was Stoner's intent. The FA was not his idea. It was tacked on after the fact by the Army. I believe his position was that if any more force than a thumb on the bolt scallop was required to get the bolt home, then you would likely be working against conditions that could introduce pressure problems if the weapon were then to be fired. |

Lack of FA isn't a big deal. The SR25 and AR10 don't have one. I believe the Colt SP901 is the only .308 AR with a FA. Just push the bolt forward with the scallop like others have suggested. GAP 10 has one. But I did not know that about the scallop on the bolt carrier. Interesting... Maybe the PredatOBR is still in my future... |
