I've got an old Daniel Defense M4V1LW on which I'd like to replace the rail.  I got it for a great deal, and I like the extended handguard past the front sight to mount a flashlight at 12 o'clock.  But the quad rail is heavy, thick, and very outdated.

I'm wondering if the Evolution 7 EX plus the extension will give me something similar.  I've found lots of pictures online of guys using the same setup for an adjustable gas block, but none with the fixed front sight tower through it.  It looks like there will be a little more space between the front of the tower and the extension than the original rail would have, but I'm wondering if anyone has done it prior to dropping $225 on the pair.

If you remove the bayonet lug and sllng swivel than you would have great looking setup with a standard FSB. In order to clear the EX portion of the handguard though, those would need to be removed.

Do pictures exist anywhere, or would it be up to me to be a pioneer in this endeavor?

Ahhh now I'm tracking. Well it would definitely work. It would directly bolt on to the setup without any extra modification. I think it would look just fine. You would have about a 0.5" gap or so in front of the FSB but other than that you would be good to go. It would leave about 2" of barrel exposed. I dont have a picture of anyone who specifically did that. Let us know how it turns out!
