A member of our rifle club has a preban Colt M4gery. The front take down pin is a screw. He was shooting one of our matches and the screw got lost. We couldnt find it anywhere. Is there something he didnt do right that caused the screw to become lose? Is there something he should do to make sure it wont happen again?

My guess is that either the screw was not tightened or it broke. The latter is unlikely. Was it an offset pin/screw combination? This is the more likely scenario for an M4gery. In either case, I have never seen one come loose before when properly tightened.
If the Preban lower was a large pivot pin, it might have the ofset screw, so a mil-spec push pin won't work. He's just gotta make sure it's tightened when he reassembles it, and keep it in mind when shooting in case it loosens.
