I've noticed this in their catalogs as well. They list the wrong specs (for example a carbine having the same length as a rifle). Weights not being listed right etc.
However there is an easy way to find out.
HBAR 20" AR15s are 8.5 lbs (you can get this from the catalog, their website, any scale, or by looking up the official weight of a M16A2 and comparing the weight difference of an A2 barrel and an HBAR).
But I digress.
Anyway if a 20" HBAR is 8.5 lbs we'll need to know how a fluted barrel compares to a HBAR barrel. So its off to the Bushmaster Site:www.bushmaster.com/faqs/techdatafaqs.asp
. So looking here we find a HBAR 20" weighs 3.5lbs while the fluted version weighs in at 3.0 lbs; for a difference of 0.5lbs.
So we should come up with a value of 8.5 - 0.5 = 8.0
lbs! Which is half a pound more than a M16A2 (which uses the Govt Profile barrel at 2.5 lbs).
And that concludes todays lesson in applied research and logic.
