In the event of a temporary shortage of a particular part, priority allocation of most parts is to complete rifles, then upper and lower halves, and then individual parts and pieces. We have carriers coming in almost daily, but MOST are going out in rifles and uppers. Some are still going out as parts, in date order from oldest to newest order.
Most upper halves (5.56) are shipping within 30-45 days. The more subs and upgrades you add, the more likely that something will be out of stock at any given time, which can add to the lead time. Steve/RRA |

Just curious because I am scheduled to go on a Hunt in a few weeks and was hoping to use the New Upper. |

Just waiting on barrels. Shouldn't be much longer.

Steve,
I've had some FTF with both of my LAR8's one is the 20" the other a carbine. I am using brand new Israeli surplus mags so I know they are not the issue (also tried some ex used inch mags, same result). Did RRA design the upper to support the mag feed lips like the FAL? I have put several hundred rounds through both rifles with the same results. I'm using clean Aussie surplus some of the best ammo available also so I know I can rule that out. I really love the trigger pull and accuracy, I just need to be able to trust the weapons to feed reliably every time. When the new polymer mags come out latter this month is this going to solve this issue? I hope so because I'm really wanting to love these weapons. Edit 6/18/11 Link to my temporary solution. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=121&t=540046 |

It's the top magazine on the magazine page (308A0116T20) and have been orderable since January. We have several thousand back orders already in place for them.

Any idea when LAR-8 rifle orders will continue shipping? I've had one on order for 4 months and only word that there are no barrels.

Most LAR-8 barrels are either here or inbound. We never stopped shipping LAR-8s..just certain models while barrels were on order. We'll be shipping those models as the barrels hit our production floor as well as whatever other models are now/still buildable.

Will the LAR-8 Predator HP accept non-Predator HP LAR-8 barrels? Mine is in transit and though I'm not in a rush to re-barrel it, I'd just like to know. Should RRA elect not to make any caliber variations other than the .243 and 7mm-08, it would be nice to know that if the after-market barrel makers can match the profile and barrel extension, that I'd still be able to get a custom one made. While that's getting pretty far ahead of ourselves, it was one unanswered question in my mind. While I'm not keen on festooning my ARs with after-market doodads, I'm sure I will be interested eventually in another caliber or two, or perhaps a bull barrel.
Thanks, John |

I think I answered this in the other thread, but yes, LAR-8 barrels are LAR-8 barrels and are cross-compatible with one another.
As to getting barrels in other calibers from custom barrel makers...that would be the work of that maker. There is a lot more to it than just having someone match barrel contours...gas port size and placement, bolt face, ejector, extractor, amagzine, muzzle device...are all going to play a role. Thanks. Steve,
I was wondering if the barrels were the only hold up? My LAR-8 has been on order for four months. I ordered a Varmint with Quad rail. Are deliveries going on a regular schedule? |
|
|
For th emost part..barrels and back logs created by them. Even when they come in, and th elowers are already built, we try to go from the oldest order to the newest order that takes that particular barrel. We get as far as we can with what we have (if it's multiple models using the same barrel we try to get all of them to the same back-order date) and start where we left off with the next batch.

I ordered 4 of the 20 round plastic LAR-8 magazines today. We'll see how long it takes before I get them, then I will post delivery time here for general info.

Steve, are the RRA barrel extensions available? I'd like to upgrade my 16" to a 20" but since barrels are not available from you guys I wonder if a RRA barrel extension on a different .308 barrel would fit the bill.
Thanks! |

So I was going to order a LAR-8 but I'm not waiting 3 - 5 months for it, what's the current build time?
|
|

Depends on the model.

Steve-
I'm looking at a new LAR-8 Predator HP w/A2 Operator stock. Any idea on shipping time for an order placed this week? If I were to add the advanced 1/2 Quad rail to the order how much would this add to the wait time? My varmint EOP continues to outshoot all of my friends rifles too. What a great rifle that is. Tuning it with reloads makes putting 10 shots inside of a quarter at 100 yds childs play. I actually shot a 5 shot .289" group at 100 with it. I've also put 3 2 stage triggers into friends guns as well after they shoot mine and fall in love with it. Was also able to drop a doe DRT off the back porch at 130 yds with a 60 Gr. Nosler partition. This gun is just silly accurate, consistent and repeatable shot to shot. Regards - Zoom |

Depends largely on the flow of barrels. but probably 90+ days from date of order. Changing to a quad really wouldn't change that.

Excellent. Should be warm enough then so I dont have to wear 5 layers of clothes to shoot outdoors then.
Thanks for the reply. Paydays coming up Friday... |

Going on 14 1/2 months wait on a LAR8 midlength basic rifle. Dec 16, 2012. Waiting on barrels last word I got last month.
But I did get contacted on some caps I ordered like 6 months ago. They finally came in. I said no thanks, RRA likes to overcharge me for shipping. And if it takes this long to get a rifle then not going to pay to advertise for free for them... RRA, I am losing confidence. |
