Looking at my bench it appears for bullets I have:
Berger 140 hybrid target Hornady 140 bthp SMK 142 TMK 130 For powder I have: Varget 4831sc IMR 4350 IMR 4320 IMR 4227 8208 XBR Primers will be GM210M Brass I have is Lapua new and once fired as well as once fired Hornady. One of the coolest ways to find nodes is shooting at an intermediate distance while looking for OCW and seeing the nodes group together. It is really satisfying when the velocities on the Labradar back up what you see. Whatever load I do I will attempt to capture the process on camera. |

The FGMM also is a hard round trying to push that 142g SMK out at 2750fps (pressure). The Gorilla hasn't been the best at grouping, but the vertical dispersion for the 130g loading shows promise. I'm not sure anyone has taken the Gorilla past 100 yards. I don't recall any of us forking over the coin for the ABM - have at it and let us know how it shoots - take one for the team! |

I need to get busy cleaning some brass as I have new Peterson and Lapua, and once fired Prime (Norma), Hornady, Peterson, Alpha and Federal. This weekend is a bust as they're calling for rain Friday night into Saturday, so I may be spending some time decapping and cleaning. |

Other than that, it's to Quantico for longer distances. Quantico does shoot 300, but I've not hit that range as I'm not sure punching paper at that distance has any value to me. |

I just noticed that my second Vortex Gen II HD 4.5-27x56 shipped yesterday! It took longer than the first (three week backorder) but maybe it will arrive for the weekend so I can get both the 260 bolt and L260 outfitted with the same optic.

Replacement ideas for my ejection port cover?
Having a 7.62 port cover on my 260 TAR just seems like it is asking for something bad to happen down the road..... |

Looks like my .260 is getting close to being in hand so I may be able to join the load development game soon, except right now I'm going back and forth w/ LT over getting the standard capacity mags (I really hate that most don't understand the dumb ass laws Maryland has)... Anyways, the range I shoot at has a 200 yd rifle, but, the way the ground level slopes off where the shooting line is I don't think I'll be able to crono anything w/ my optical pickup type looks like I need a labradar but that may have to wait till late September. For now I'll be able to get speeds while shooting at 100 yd though

Just picked up an rcbs charge master for $225 at Scheels, that should make reloading slightly less painful.
ETA: the hellacious deal I got. |

RCBS Reducing Sleeve You can also change the speeds in the Chargemaster to get faster throws: Speed Up Your Chargemaster I calibrate the scale before every use. I also know the supplied pan (in my case) weighs 152.2 grains. I throw a charge, take it off the scale, see that the scale returns to -152.2g and then I place it back on the scale one more time to check weight. If it's good, I place it in the cartridge and replace the pan, which should then go back to 0.00. If the weight, for example, shows -152.1g, I know the charge was possibly off and I can weigh it on the beam scale. If anyone else has a tip lets us know! Originally Posted By WVgunner:

Congrats D3 on the new grandbaby!
I also always re-calibrate my chargemaster before each use. It would be just plain lazy not to. |

Pro-tip of the day: Just leave your chargemaster on 100% of the time. It needs to stay "warm" to remain consistent. I don't ever recalibrate. I do check the pan weight as D3 mentioned, but if you leave the machines on, and keep them away from electrical interference, they will remain accurate. Also keep them away from AC vents or any type of moving airflow.
I run two, sometimes three chargemasters at a time. SD's consistently under 10 for all my bulk-loaded ammo. |
