purchased a new smith & Wesson 1911 today while in Des Moines today
paid $758 maybe kinda high but wanted to compare several brands and models.

looked at Springfield armory but liked the feel of the s/w
and the dealer assured me it was a better quality firearm.

drove home (marshalltown) 1 hour away

mags don't lock into place when inserted into weapon.

call dealer he says bring it back i will make it right or exchange it.

immediately drive back to dealer 1 hour about 55 miles away
dealer looks it over cant fix it. sold his last one 1/2 hour ago cant exchange it

he will be nice enough to order me a new part. (mag release button)
he should have it in a couple days i can drive back to Des Moines again or he will mail it to a local ffl for me. i should have gun back in about a week

he said it was a good thing i bought from a store and not a gun show or i would have been out of luck.he will take care of me

but to be fair for all my trouble he will sell me a case of ammo (has to be a case)
at only his cost plus 10%

dealer is jack smith

picked up the 1911 today functions great.
the dealer apologized for the inconvenience and repeated his offer for ammo,
but said it would be only $10 over his cost per case of ammo

i told him i could buy ammo cheaper at wally world
his helper stated "they sweep the powder off the floor for wallmart ammo"

ok whatever , i was hoping for a free box of ammo or a free mag but no luck.
at best i would remain neutral on this dealer
but i like the gun. i ran 100 rounds  with no problems at 25 yards
about 30 at this target

if i am not mistaken, the gun is already yours thus not requiring it to be transfered back to you, therefore no need in sending it to thee local ffl.  to go on with that, your local ffl will be pissed that you didnt buy from him, he will then charge you a transfer fee  $25+.  then there is the whole overnight shipping charges.

i feel i know who the dealer was as well.  hope they take care of ya.

Thanks for the update.

This comment is as telling as anything else:

i told him i could buy ammo cheaper at wally world
his helper stated "they sweep the powder off the floor for wallmart ammo"

Thanks for putting a name to the dealer.

Didn't he have some other obnoxious quotes for the news about 3 or 4 months ago, back when that cops kid shot someone?

pattern?
