So does anyone else have a Winter Project?

I've got to re-stock a rimfire, strip and polish up the internals on my Buckmark, sort a holster for same and if I have time I might even practice some shooting!

I want to get a Saiga 12, with vertical foregrip + 20 round drum mags, and go to the clay shooting centre at Bisley on a busy Sunday to try it out.

So, that's one thing. I also need to get a holster for the Buckmark.

Hmm now lemesee...

1. Install freefloat foreend on the carbine and finally add the Magpull 93B stock....
2. Work up some .50 & .223 homeloads
3. Write a letter to Father Christmas & ask him to lift the .50 suspension
4. Sort out the bonnet release catch on my Karmann Ghia
5. Prepare for delivery  and arrival of number 2 son or daughter...

I just read that as ready salted, and I'm still PMSL.

There's me off to the Opticians.

But seriously, I'm contemplating getting the shorter one of these

and all of those nice necessary accessories to trick it out for some fun on the 25m range.

One of the guys in our club is using the hogue universal powerspeed holster for his buckmark. Its got 3 rare earth magnets in it that hold the gun solidly even while doing the jump retention test.

You can get it from ...................... well I could tell you but then I would have to take this thread to the EE

310 Cadet was using one on Saturday. I still favour the old Rescomp if I can find one, but I need one with the old style hanger that will take a wide belt 'cos I'm too tight to pay for the newer CR Speed belts (don't want to eat too much into my AR upper budget)

Sorry if the link isn't working it is a pdf that takes a while to open for the GSG-5.

that looks nice - the longer version (with the built in suppressor?) might even be legal here if the stock is fixed. The short one looks better but is lacking about 6 inches in barrel length.

These length restrictions will always be a right pain - damn Hurd, Major and Blair for their knee-jerk reactions in the past...

Hiya Nick, the suppressor is a dummy as they are not allowed over here, the interesting thing is that the shorter one's muzzle break is removable and there is the usual half inch UNC thread to add your not allowed suppressor. As it is only capable of shooting HV ammo reliably, I don't know if a suppressor would be worth the hassle.

Hi Tony - hope all is well in Bavaria, I was in Munich for a day the other week and palnning a longer trip before Xmas, still hoping to meet up!

If that's a dummy suppressor then it probably falls foul of the minimum 12 inch barrel length here in blighty, curses! If the thing was made with a longer barrel and cut off to 12 it might be OK, but if it's ever been less than 12 I think it's a section 5 for the rest of it's life... Sometimes "abroad" looks so much more sensible than our beloved homeland.

cheers and enjoy your new toy, whichever one you get!

Nick

I just checked the pdf version and according to that the shorter authentic looking one has a barrel length of 195mm and the barrel length of the other one with the mock suppressor is 415mm, which should make it UK legal???

December's Shooting Sports says that the GSG5 will be coming to the UK later this year.
The importer will be Centre UK

Actually spoke to centra yesterday, they are getting a sample only in the next few weeks and then they need to have it inspected by the local authorities to confirm whether or not they can legally import it into the UK, so nothing is decided yet, and if it does happen it will be early in 2008 before they arrive in the UK.

Actually that bit is complete nonsense, as there's no authority set up to deem the legality or classification of firearms types.

Sounds hopeful -  wonder if it would be possible to have it made with an integral suppressor? I'll wait and see with interest.
