I moved to MN 2 mo ago, and have noticed that most of the people I have gotten to know are friendly, outgoing, and very, very liberal, politically.

Please inform me as to why so many otherwise sensible people are politically leftists in this state.

Most educators in the state come from the University of Minnesota.  The Univ of MN is practically world reknowned for cranking out some of the most liberal graduates I've ever seen.  I'm currently a student attending the cesspool known as "The U".

What you should do to make things better is teach your kids proper gun issues, political issues, etc., so when your kid's teacher tell them "Guns are bad."  They can reply with, "No they're not..."  I did when I was a kid that learned proper and young that GUNS were not bad;  People are bad.

If I could I'd homeschool my future children, but I know that won't be possible due to career issues...  For other people that's the best way to go.

Lets see University of Minnesota, William Mitchell Law college,I'm sure there are a few other left wing schools, I just can't think of them at the moment.
Oh yes and don't forget all those Liberated liberals that Wellstone got in here, and the ones Jessie converted.
Remember this   we do have the KQ morning show, that is about as anti-liberal as you can get

OK, UM is a socialist bastion that contaminates the whole state.  I'll concede that, since every singe state university in this country is the same way (with the possible exception of Texas A&M-- and no, I'm not an Aggie, so don't even start).

So even given that every other state has its own UM spewing newly programmed liberals into the community every year, it seems that Minnesota is still far more liberal a state than you would think for a very pragmatic midwestern state. Are Minnesota young people and the communities they go to more apt to believe the bologna that their professors are dishing out than youngsters from other states?

Or not.  I'm just wondering.

I'm not defending Minnesotans as a whole, because I am definitely not in the MPR crowd.  I am, however, a lifer (with a small exception of being born outside MN) in this state.  Why did all of you "out of staters" come here anyway if this state is such a shit hole?  That's right, jobs.  Good paying jobs that are not generally offered in the surrounding states.  If I remember correctly, 94, 35 and 90 were all wide open last week when I came and went to Montana and the police were  not stoppin' anyone from leaving.  I don't have the answers, but I have traveled the whole United States mainland, and have not found a better state that has everything Minnesota does.  Lord knows I'd love to move north or west, but I still have to have a job and my kids still need to go to school.  So,  all you Minnesota haters feel free to gas up, load up and hit the road.  Who knows, I may be following behind some day, but not yet.
<rant mode off>

Just remember this my friends, the Wellstonians are out there and they love to see us fighting between each other while they organize to kick the piss out of us next election if we don't get it togather.  It's commin'...

Excuse me while I put my flame suit on.

Fed...Sorry.  I just get tired of all the bashin' of everything Minnesotan.  Yea, we definitely have our share of screwed up stuff here (as much as any other state).  But I think anyone who looks objectively, there is more positive things than negative things.  I feel pretty fortunate to have a decent job, a nice home, pretty nice transportation, fun toys, and a pretty great family.  I'm lucky enough to have three sons to mold into citizens (to counter three Wellstonians!).  If all I could find in my daily life was the thought that I had none of the above and even the state I lived in sucked, well, it's moving day.  I wouldn't sit around and whine, because (hopefully) nobody will listen to me.

Winter is just around the corner, and I'm praying to the snow gods just beat the shit out of us this year.

As a side note.

I moved here from Wisconsin. To me? they view isn't much different. After all they have the University of Wisconsin Madison. Second only to Berkeley on the left-wing-nut scale.

I don't know Minnesota well enough to say I "love" it. I do know that I won't move back to Wisconsin.

DUDE!!!  THANKS FOR NOTHING!  NOW I GOTTA WIPE THE WATER/SPIT OFF MY MONITOR!

I don't disagree with that statement though.  I want TONS of snow this year!!!  THE MORE THE BETTER!  We haven't had a good year full of snow for a long time (since about 1992 IIRC).  It'll make me wish I had a jeep or something 4wd instead of my cruisin' pimp car.

A different perspective, I grew up in MN and moved
to San Francisco Bay area just after college. Spent 15 years out there and moved back so I didn't have to raise my kids out there. MN may have lots of liberals but they aren't the same as Ca. Ca liberals were vicious but entertaining.
MN liberals are pretty boring, although after Wellstone died they took it up another notch.

Most of the people in MN vote liberal (Democrat) because that's what their Parents & Grandparents did. Even if their political views lean closer to the conservative side.

I personally think it was an overdose of Lefse, and lutefisk (or however the hell you spell it)
A typical day for a Minnesota Resident would go something like this:
While in route to the local Department Store, Walmart, or Courthouse, To protest Fur wearing, Gun sales, or lack of enough welfare benefits, The Typical Minnesota Idiot (I mean resident)
Will follow you, Cut you off, and Flip you the bird, Just to tell you that they hate your "Dump Wellstone" bumpersticker, at the same time they are having a conversation about someone else's business on their Damn Cellphone while attempting to drive their "Politically Correct" USA Made Japanese car to drop off the kids at the soccer arena they No Longer allow gunshows at, Because they felt "intimidated" watching their "Idiot Offspring" Fall all over the field, in a failed attempt at being athletic.
Good Humor!
That's Life in Minnesota!
