I wish there was a REAL gun show around here...my opinion.

Whats your opinion of WAC gun shows?

ETA: the only good booth is the Bullseye booth, however you can get the same deal at their store. Bullseye is pretty good.

Beats ANYTHING else in the northwest-and I've been to most -from Bozeman to Boise to the southern Oregon border.

Link Posted: 3/11/2005 4:16:06 AM EST
usually has what I'm looking for:

Gun stuff

Beef Jerkey

Beanie Babies

Link Posted: 3/11/2005 4:47:58 AM EST
Jerky - great snack for shooting
Beanie Babies - great to shoot

They usualy have what I am looking for also, I have addressed the fact that alot of tables were filled with non gun related crap when I was a table holder, and they told me that it was allowed to fill tables/ bring down the cost of putting on the show.

What would in your opinion qualify as a "real" gunshow?

Personally I like the WAC shows quite a bit. There are occasional deals there but I have to really be looking to find them. I like that there seem to be more and more black rifle vendors. I think the exposure is good for us. Just my thoughts...

In your opinion what are the top ten things that are wrong or bad about the WAC shows?

[smartass]I guess WAC should have more antigun groups (EBAY) and Airsoft Vendors at their shows (SHOT) to qualify as a real gun show to you [/smartass]

PS I'm not sure that Bullseye even comes to the WAC shows anymore, I know for certain that they stopped around the time of their BATF audit, have they resumed attending and I haven't noticed?
Link Posted: 3/11/2005 5:04:31 AM EST
WAC doesn't suck.

It ain't just about gunshows--they're on our side down in Olympia. I'll put up with Beanie Babies any day for that reason.

DOESN'T SUCK.

You failed to emphasize the positive aspects of the WAC Show.

For instance ---
the 'mission' to get there from wherever you live;
the satisfaction of going back home after getting at least something for your gunshit;
seeing a LOT of people in one place that pretty much think like you do and have the same interest; the chance to meet & greet fellow Forum Members;
the chance to meet people that have more or different experiences than you do;
seeing the young and old sharing and passing the 'gun culture';
etc.

It can be a once or twice a month show, or something you look forward to for many months and finally get to make a big day of.

Perhaps it is not WAC that sucks... J/K.
It's pretty much what you make of it.
Have FUN!

WAC is just another anti-second amendment org like the NoRifleAssociation.

Before WAC took over the monroe show it was the highest volume selling show in the northwest, making it membership only background check NRA affiliate, disavowed the true patriots.

They ran Randy off with their nazi immitation of the first amendment.

I remember when a known member in good standing sponsored the next member in instead of a state nazi background check, at that time you could find just about any second amendment item imagined {held at the Kent fairgrounds} at the time.

WAC sucks ass because it is the only show in town, time to start some real competition.

Link Posted: 3/11/2005 6:38:40 AM EST
no pictures inside thats why the feds take the pics of everyone entering and exiting.

only 2 big dealers that show up are discount guns and olympic.

everyone else just want to get rid of their old worthless guns at top dollar.

only other thing good is ammo

No kidding. I wasn't aware of the history behind this. The slow but incredulous creeping of the taking away of our rights to be sure. Very big bummer. Donning tin foil now....

The shows suck but you paid to become a WAC member anyway?

I'm fine with the no cameras allowed I don't know why anyone would have a problem with that. There is a procedure in place if you want to be able to photograph your setup.

I'd rather a show have fewer big dealers and more little guys, we all know where the big shops are located at and they have stores just for that reason. It wasn't so many years ago that store front FFL holders weren't even allowed to sell at gunshows.

ETA WAC is a membership driven organization and there are procedures in place to make changes.

How many detractors have run for the WAC BOD?

How many have even gone to a BOD meeting?

The only thing that sucks about WAC is the fact I never have enough money for the shows!

How many detractors have run for the WAC BOD? YES, we tried to throw the bumbs out before but as usual with a democracy it relies upon how informed the voters are. the power of the press reigns supreme so the few patriots can raise enough money to educate the voters as to what is really happening with the organization.

It's funny that guys complain about private party pricing on used stuff is higher than buying new stuff from a FFL, yet private parties do so well.

my opinion is that the reason private parties do so well with their obscenely overpriced used hardware is due to the fact that they don't have to do paperwork like the dealers have to do.
There are obviously buyers there who cannot otherwise obtain a firearm due to their past run ins with the law.

Many out there don't want anyone in LE to know they just purchased a pistol, AND there are many sellers who don't care if a person has a WAC badge or not.

Seen it all the time, Joe walks up, wants to pay $650 for a used Glock, and the seller says here ya go. No checking of the badge, no paperwork, etc.

I happen to be one person who thinks that background checks for all sales at a gunshow is a good ideal. However, I also think that ANYONE who steps into the WAC SHOW, should have a member's badge and proof that its their badge. Since we all have to complete the BG check before being issued the badge or a renewal, it would weed out those who are not entitled to own a handgun or rifle/shotgun.

No badge, no admittance. Kids are exempt as they should be.

I also remember back in the day when you could carry your firearm into the show locked and loaded. What happened to that!!

Welcome to a free, open and litigious society - get used to it. All communities eventually evolve into tyrannies - it's the nature of group habitats. That's why our Founders tried to leave little clues that overthrow of a government was a legitimate response to tyranny, but only after exhausting every representative means. In other words, you have to let it play out each time and then replace it when it wears out. How some of you get your knickers in a twist about having to live through the latter part of the evolution instead of getting to be there in the early part is like listening to people complain about the tides. It is what it is - it's the nature of the beast. The key is figuring out how to be as free as you can under the rules of your lifetime and in the most free society this planet has ever known. It wasn't perfect then and it isn't now - but it beats the hell out of what the rest of the world has to offer.

That said - I kinda like the WAC - it's like a giant pawn shop where you have to ferret out the deals and can pick up large-quantity items on the cheap - but I like that kind of thing; some don't.

If you have been to SHOT then you would know its not really a gunshow so to speak, but a industry show. Thats not realy apples to apples IMHO...

You got a WAC membership in your name without any money being paid to WAC for the membership?

You certainly didn't have any sweat equity built up with WAC to finance your membership, did someone give you theirs to use?

How can something you didn't pay for pay for itself?

Don't tell us that you and your friend are swapping the membership badge back and forth between you.

Yeah it it breaks my heart to know that you can never seem to tell the entire story, all the way back to you whining about it taking more than 30days to issue you your CPL when after we finally got most of the story it was clear that the issuing agency was in full complience with the law.

Whine whine I'm frisky-drew and I'm a punk

Sheesh, when I got my WA CPL, it took Redmond PD over 30 days. I didn't worry so much over it, though. No big deal.

I like the WAC show. I like it a hell of a lot better than the Saxet show here (yeah, spell Saxet backwards). I might renew my WAC membership, just for the hell of it. And I have, in fact, been to a BOD meeting.

There used to be some Pacific Arms Collectors show that happened occasionally at that old defunct mall thing off of Gravelly Lake down near Ft. Lewis... They used to have some decent stuff there, but it was kind of ghetto.

It's time for me to go home - have a great weekend.
Link Posted: 3/11/2005 1:44:24 PM EST
Yeah yeah you got you CPL after crying to everybody about how the issuing agency was being mean to itty-bitty-little-frisky-drew and breaking the law by not issuing it to you within 30 days then after prying more information out of you we saw more proof that your an ignorant tool who doesn't know what in the hell he's talking about.

Are you a fag or what Drew?

You seem to be awfully concerned with my dating status.

I told you before I'm not gay so stop trying to hit on me. Stick with your rats and your Richard Gere imitation.

The WAC won't change unless membership and the table rentals stop. Last I saw at Puyallup people were lined up getting renewal and new memberships, tables were all full. When they seea 15% drop in attendance they'll reach out and ask why?

Don't knock the WAC gun shows. I've been a member for 18 years. One weekend out of the month I get out of housework, mowing the lawn, honey-do's, etc.heWhere else can you fork over cash, and walk your case of ammo out the door, and everybody watching you is drooling.

Your Bill Goodman shows in Ohio must have been different than the ones I traveled to in OH and the ones I went to in MI from 1985 until about 1992 or 1993.

Alot fewer thug like looking individual at WAC shows then there were at the Bill Goodman shows at the 8 Mile Armory in Detroit too.

I personally like the WAC. Can it get better? Sure!!
I wished that people who have private sales that they want to make go to one place and hang out. I am always looking for some private sales but all you see are guys walking around with signs and it's too stinking hard to see them all.
I wish there was more food available. There are enough people to warrent more food vendors, don't you think?
I wish there were more tactical dealers. There are so many tacty tactical supplies at the WAC, it's incredible. Don't these guys ever read anything from these forums. Clinton & Marty's table is the only one I usually visit.

Dang it...I gotta get me a table!! Anybody want to share a table with me??

First, Watch what you ask for.....( you may just get it)

Second, Joe Waldron and Dave Workman are just men, and as good of a job, or as bad of a job as they do, They are not WAC alone.

Third, It is no big secret that the NRA could do a heck of a lot better. ( they could take a few lessons from the ACLU's tactics for starters)

I am a Life member to the NRA and have been a WAC member for a long time, but You tell me that they would not sell out all of us "Black Rifle owners" to stop the pushing of a act to " close the Gunshow Loophole".

Strat is a little rough around the edges, but a guy that is very dedicated to your rights and freedoms. He is the type that dont take compromise. Everything is 50/50 to him... it is right or wrong, no in between.

BTW we have a guy in here that told old Wayne himself face to face that he was not going back to picking cottin.

The fight for our type of rifles has always been a little tougher then the duck hunters, and the people here are a little more vocal.
