Work is slowing down, I was thinking, I should bring my laptop to entertain myself.
How do I go about finding where the Hot Spots are? I was told that there is a list of places.

Bear,

A pocket WiFi finder is about $20-25 and will alllow you to "see" if there's a good signal before you go through the trouble of trying to log in.

Most larger hotels, as well as many chain cafes (like Starbucks) have routers configured for public access, so finding a hotspot should be no trouble.

Not that I would ever do it,

but I've had the laptop on while driving around and you'd be simply amazed at the number of unsecured personal netowrks out there....many with the factory default admin log-ons still enabled.

I thought Starbucks used TMobile's Hotspot which cost $20-30/month?

Every Verizon phonebooth in NYC is a hotspot, also the Fountain in City Hall Park in downtown Manhattan is a public hotspot.
