OK I'm a little upset, but dealing with it. I picked up a Mega lower based on hearing mostly good things about them and wanted a lower marked 'multi' for caliber. Working on SBR'ng, having it engraved, and the finishe begins flaking off!! So I've sent an e-mail to the dealer I got it from to see if can't work it out but Grrrrrrrrr, frustrating. Guess from now on I'll stick with RRA.

You do know that WS4LIF is gonna eat this up don't you??????? You've probably made his day
yes I know. I saw his posts in the potential GB thread. I'd heard more good then bad to sway me to try it out for saving a little cash. Now it's just more time and headache.
If the vendor is reputable he should stand by it. Just if you can, try to keep away from sending it back to Mega, I've heard they are awfully backed up at the time. |
so far the dealer has been great up to this point. I'm keeping my fingers crossed here.
I've had some more trouble with the last mega I've done....which is a shame because I like the machining marks and finish (my two lower pet peevs).
But they are too out of spec, finish is too thick, and alot of times won't drop mags. I've got a Bushy lower I have the SBR paperwork for. My new favorite cheap lower is DPMS! But if you can, buy bushy and anything is better then Stag. |
The manufacture wasn't up to par IMO, the second choice was more expensive and didn't offer large group discounts other then free shipping($140 per lower).
I'm still looking for an other choice. |
Yeah I like there markings, like the multi marked for caliber, but am not impressed with this. |
well update- the dealer I got it from pretty much said well you tried angraving and if it's flawed in the anodizing that it's Mega's fault. So I can either try to deal with mega, which some have said may be an issue, or just take my flaky receiver as a lesson and buy quality next.
Well, subtract what a transfer would cost and it doesn't look so bad. It has the attributes that were mentioned - Multi Caliber, well made, and decent finish. It wasn't custom for me, but it was for Cloud Mountain Armory. The real avantage for me is that I can decide at 2pm that I want a lower, drive down to Newberg and be walking out of the store with it in my hand by 2:45pm -- I will pay a bit extra for that. |

Not that the thread isn’t a little off track already, but has anybody tried a Noveske N4 receivers, ya know, support the home town guys and all.
I don't know, but I'd have the frame looked at if I were you. |
It's just a FAG, sorry, STAG |
OK well I went from mad to completely pissed. Mega flat out refuses to do anything about this. shatty product and no support for their product. The dealer kind of washed there hands of it, which kind of pisses me off because they havepretty good prices. Yeah it's not there fault but it's nice when people stand behind there products they sale. It's all a learning experience and well WS4LIF was right about shatty a$$ mega products. In the end I learned yes all lowers are supposed to be created fairly equal, but they aren't. Stick with good and reputable. All of this friggin headache to save $20. Now I'm $90 in the hole.
And why do you despise Stag so much? Or is this some kind of sick joke. |
Thats why I always wonder when people go with brand X lower parts kit over RRA which is $8 more.....???
But, luckly there are other choices. And someone will buy that lower from you (I'll give ya $25). |
I find them to be of low quality. I find the finish too ruff and not to my liking. I find the logo so rediculously gay I can't stand looking at it another minute. I find the fact that all these "new" lowers are just rebadged Queer Deer. I find all the support more fuel for my anti-Stag fire! |
Why you gots to be such a hater???? |
Yeah I have an offer for $75, I'll probably just keep the damn thing so at least I have something to show for it. Hey if there's ever a ban again I gots a nice POS err I mean umm Mega lower for sale!!! |
You have got to be kidding. Oh well, some people are just the way they are and you can't change them. More Stag for me. |
I don't like stag simply based on there logo. Oh well though.
Quite honestly it was the logo on both Stag and Mega that made me look around for alternatives.
Both would sell MUCH better with no logo at all (IMHO). Maybe this is a business opportunity, and I should contract CMT to produce some clean, no logo lowers and make my fortune selling them ... |
well I liked Megass' lower, but they are absolute sh!t. sorry but never again.
That's why I want a Noveske even more. CMT/Stag quality (no matter what WS4LIF says) either stripped or with a CMT lower parts kit, so what's that add up to, 170 or so? LMT Sopmod kit, last time I checked were 265 and a single point sling loop, $20. $450 or so total in parts, and you are paying them an extra $100 for the name and to assemble it. Too bad they have that much profit in it, I'd go down Friday and get one |
Do you guys honestly pay that much attention to the rollmark??
I do and don't, just do not like that damn deer head on there. I have weapons of mass venison destruction now, w/o any markings of any damn deer on there. That's the place for a damn deer head, if I wanted it. |
$140?!? for an off-brand kit-gun lower??? I think Keith's had RRA lowers for $145 at the last fun show... |
Because some of us don't like RRA's LPKs. Sorry to hear about the Mega lower problem. I have two that are in fine shape. One just finally got SBR'd. What's most disturbing, however, is the lack of customer service you received from Mega. |
bigbore has them for $175 with standard LPK installed. |
I'm relly kind of surprised by this. I have a Stinger lower on my rifle build that I bought~2 years ago, and it is a nicer receiver than my Bushy. Nicer machining, finish, and no problems of any kind with dimensional tolerences that I can find (it works).

and this is my biggest gripe. if a company, and dealer, can't stand behind a product how good are they really. |
Well maybe this will be a lesson learned for me then. Wit sportbikes every company I've dealt with and dealer has stood behind there products 100%. It's sad to see the same can't be said here.
I have your back on this. CMT is better about machining off the forging marks but I have encountered a lot of tolerance and finish issues with them. My preference is anything that comes from LAR, which includes recent DPMS, BM, Ameetec, and a couple others. I have received RRA and CMT receivers that were too tight and had terrible finishes but I have never received an LAR receiver that was anything but identical to the next. I know it sounds weird but LAR puts out the same exact product every single time. And for the record, I would rather wait on an Ameetec than buy an in stock CMT or Mega. |
