Town of Oyster Bay gives Hunter Safety in August, registration in JUly. Its free. For bow, its in September, register in August. They have a website. I looked it up for the same reason (turning 52, retired from part-time "job" with USAR and have time on my hands now and a feeling like i want to hunt something (-:
Many of the gunshops give the course as well, CampSite, T and T, etc., but not sure if they have a fee. Think I saw that its 4 separate nights, the last being a test. Just do a search Hunter Safety NY and a bunch of choices come up.
