I wanted to start carrying a rifle in the trunk of my car so I want to make sure it legal. I have a CCW permit does that cover rifles too? I checked Packing.org but I couldnt find anything. A little of the subject but.... If I have subwoofers in my trunk and the rifle is in the back do you think the vibrations will break down the power in the rounds? It is just something I was thinking about Thanks Cody |
| I don't see way not. I have for years carried a loaded rifle in the truck and have not had any problems with the Law. As for the ammo be hurt being around that nasty hip hop music seems it hadn't hurt the gang bangers ammo any so I say it good to go around the bass. |

AFAIK there is nothing illegal with a rifle(ie longgun) in your vehicle. Your CCW only pertains to handguns. You can carry your rifle year round but you may have splainin to do Lucy should you get pulled over by PoPo. I don't think the Sub's vibration will break the powder flakes or rods (depending on what powder was used) in the round. The temperature change will have more effect on it's performance. Once again this is only an opinion |

Just so happens that I talked this over with a deputy sherrif a few years ago. He said it's always a good idea for a guy to cover his rear end because you never know whats going to happen or what kind of cops you are going to have to deal with. He suggested that a guy should also have a valid Indiana Hunting license... that way, if the "you never know what's going to happen" thing should happen you have the "Ground Hogs and coyotes" reason for the AK/SKS/AR in the trunk.. and the license to prove it. Go for it.. |

The only laws in Indiana specifically pertaining to long guns are all hunting related. Since the law is silent, that means you can have long guns in your car all you want. I won't go anywhere without my AR in my truck, in fact. Your Indiana License to Carry Handgun has no bearing on long guns. If you go to other states, you should check their laws however. Some of them require that the long guns be unloaded (and defined "loaded") and some require them to be cased and inaccessible. |

What about the "roof rack" where the weapon is in a vice like mount on the ceiling of the vehicle inside of course? I drive a Dodge Durango so a long gun case isn't somehting I'd like to advertise but they see a roof rack they think cop and the model I'm looking into is rather hard to gain unauthorized access to if the vehicle is broken into. Any input? Semper Fidelis PS: Joey that you? |

Universal Overhead AR15 Mount Traditional weapon rack for modern weapon needs from Tufloc®. Universal brackets mount onto roof for vehicles without partitions Kit includes bracket, electric gun lock, switch, trigger guard and mounting kit Mounts above and behind head out of air bag deployment path Black powder-coated steel construction Concealed momentary switch for quick release of lock 1-Year Warranty 4-1/4"H 5-1/4"W x 36"D; 11 lbs here's one of the user comments: This is an excellent product This product was probabally the best thing that I could buy for my gun. I have it mounted onto the roof of my regular cab ford f-150 and it works great. I installed a kill switch before the momentary hidden lock release so it's even more secure. The lock works perfect every time and a theif couldnt access the rifle at all without a blow torch! only complaint is that the barrel rattles in the barrel lock-up when going over big bumps, hasn't affected accuracy yet but I found that putting a tube sock over the barrel helps a lot. Pipe insulation might work too. Overall an excellent product if you need a vechicle gun lock! Semper Fidelis |
Welcome home, Aaron! I didn't even know there was any kind of USMC presence in Indiana. How'd you get so lucky that they put you right at home? If you get OCS, where will you go to school? Sorry about the girlfriend ... was she at least good at "cleanin' the pipes"? Now you have to replace her, and make sure she either has a much older sister or a single, hot mother for me!
