That's right folks. We're off on our travels again.
AZ here we come This time we're flying out on friday to Phoenix. Highpower at Rio on saturday, Florence on Sunday and then off to Camp Navajo, nr Flagstaff next week to help out with the NG's All Weapons Weekend Then it's back down to Phoenix for a week of shopping and shooting. Bags packed and the plane's being fuelled........... Stand by for loads of piccies as this year Target-Hunter is completing his first leg of the tour |
Must remember to remove all loose brass from my pockets this year............
Have a safe trip and have lots of fun.
Hope you get to shoot lots & lots & lots of US Gov kit and use up tons of free ammo! Catch you when you get back Nick |
Tomorrow can't come quick enough .
Anyhow the bags are packed and I'm waiting for target-hunter to get round here, as he's kipping on the sofa. Mousegunner and Old Bob are somewhere on the M1, heading for a hotel at Heathrow and I'm passing the time. Anyhoo, here's what's hapening. Every year the AZNG hold an event called the All Weapons Weekend. It is designed to encourage members to stay in the guard and involves more shooting than they usually do in the course of a year. However since the War etc, it has turned into a training exercise and for some reason (probably because we're enthusiastic and know the chief organiser, we get invited and get a waiver to take part. (there is considerable paperwork and insurance etc). It's a funny old thing but you would think that there would be plenty of locals to help out, but last year was a turning point. We've been going to AZ for several years, it's a fabulous place, and have been on the periphery of this event but we are now part of the official range crew, especially after last years event when we built the whole match and helped test and run the event. (it's massive ) And after constructing a hand grenade range with realistic obstacles and a rifle and rifle grenade range, were complimented with comments that it was some of the best training they had ever received in the army/guard. So we've been asked back, and it'd be rude to say no Grenades were dummies BTW, we were worried when we assumed they'd be real. I don't want to be near anything like that. But the guys and gals in the guard are most friendly and we had a great time. This year, it's being moved to N.AZ to Camp Navajo Nr Flagstaff and the Canyon. But it's going to be cold, although it's a brand new complex and will be an interesting event. See ya soon Mark and co |
Sounds great, hope you all have a good time. Look forward to the pics. and stories.
...oh and if you'd like me to take care of some of your rifles whilst you're away, just leave them with the police post at Terminal 4 and I'll pick them up |
Well here we are....after a dekayed take-off and 11hr flight, we arrived in Phoenix after drinking the plane dry again , picked up the car, added the ubiquitous "InfidelInside" sticker and headed to the guard to pick up our gear.
After a short nights sleep, it was off to the range to collect kit and get zeroed. Did I mention that I now have an A2 SR upper in the US and we all shot the Highpower match at Rio. It was a day of mixed fortunes for us all. The weather starded off pretty wet and cold, but cleared up later, enough to be able to actually focus on the targets and I finally managed to achieve a personal best, 200-9x sitting r/f @ 200yds. After that it was pistol heaven for an hours fun on steels, there was even a sub-gun too It's 5.00am righ now and wide awake again. We head off south today for more fun and then tomorrow, it's off to the cold of Flagstaff and the Canyon for a week. Mark |
So were you travelling when you typed your last post, or just still a little pissed..?
Still dealing with the jetlag. Off to the guard in a mo to load up and head off to Flagstaff. Target-Hunter had probably what was the greatest day of his life yesterday, but he can't hit a barn door with a rifle grenade |
You just had to bring barn doors into it didn't you............................ |

We're back,......

Right...... there's somewhere in the region of 7 gigglybites of pics etc, but I for example filled my card on the camera and had to dump them onto Nicks laptop, which I don't have access to.
There is a memory stick doing the rounds at the mo and all the pics are being collated. When that is done we can have a proper photo session. We'll have top hurry up though as the World Tour resumes in 2 weeks time, as we're off to Vermont to shoot their State Highpower Championships, and this time we're taking the guns with us |
SNAP!!! |
You fucking Brits....don't you realize that the cliffs of the Grand Canyon don't give a flying filp if your Americans or just bloody tourists...you can still fall to your pathetic deaths ??? It's called GRAVITY................... Wally the Wanker |
Gravity sucks, even in the US, but more so for the rest of the world.
Keep them pic's coming, please. Tony |
The Grand Canyon is awesome; pictures rarely do it justice. To see it in person is unforgettable. That river is a mile straight down.
Thanks for the pics, and keep 'em coming! If any of you guys are ever in the Western New York area, you'll need to check out Niagara Falls (and the surrounding historic areas) and the relatively unmolested Letchworth State Park. |
Wally, do you know what a wanker is??? I wouldn't brag about it |
In the US we call it "Yanker" Damn. I kill myself |
Quality pics !! Looks like you all had way too much fun !!
Cheers Steven |
There's still more to come.....as soon as a certain person retrieeves them from his laptop
Well, we're off again tomorrow for the second leg of this years World Tour.
First stop Boston tomorrow night and then drive up to Jericho, Vermont for the State Highpower Championships. VSRPA Looks like it's going to be a nice part of the world More friendly shooters to meet and 3 days of fun shooting, not to mention all the other stuff. We're taking our own guns this time, but there are loaners on hand for those that want them. Back next week so don't do anything daft as I'll still have eyes on you all Hopefully there'll be more pics and hopefully I'll finally be able to post the remainder of the AZ pics before the new ones Mark |
