I just read the Colorado Fish and Game hunting regs.
The only restriction for hunting small game with a rifle that I could find is a .23 cal bore limit... Does this mean it is legal to hunt small game with an AR in .223? I didnt see anything that would prevent you from hunting with a semi-auto and I didnt see anything about mag capacity. |

Copied directly from the small game 2010 brochure
"It is illegal to hunt game birds, small game mammals or furbearers with a centerfire rifle larger than .23 caliber in regular rifle deer and elk seasons west of I-25, unless you have an unfilled deer or elk license for the season you are hunting." So yup, you can hunt small game state wide, year round, with an AR in .223. For big game the rd limit is 6 total, for mag and chamber. No mag capacity limit on small game. |

Yes, for small game(game mammals and game birds), the shotgun cannot have the capacity of holding more than 3 shells; chamber and magazine combined. The small game brochure says except migratory birds, even though the same rule applies?
This rule sucks ass, especially on the opening day of Dove season. There is no mention of rifle/pistol magazine capacity in the small game brochure. |

A Buckmark single shot or special 3 round magazine. |
