Riverwalk and various shops and eateries
Mi Tierra
Chris Madrids, best burgers
eat at Boudros
little red barn

see alamocity.com for more info.

That Holiday Inn is a few blocks away from the river walk, and the bars & restaurants along it, but within walking distance.

If you don't mind driving an hour or so, Fredericksburg has the Nimitz museum. Has some interesting displays.

Car rentals are cheap. Get one. Theres a bunch of shops, stores and things to see downtown. Theres also areas outside San Antonio thats not far away. Get a map or have your GPS with you as the roads are confusing to strangers :)

I'd get a rental car.

San Antonio is pretty spread out - and many of the better spots to hit are NOT within comfortable walking distance of Market Square.
