OK...... being new to the game...Am I right in the fact that Alabama does not allow for a SBR even if registered??

You are correct. Same for shotguns although AOW's are allowed. I get around the sbr prohibition by making sure it is a pistol if I want that caliber bad enough.

OK....so if I order a "pistol" upper and mate it to my "rifle" lower then I am in deep stuff.....correct?

But you can buy a pistol and put a short barrel on it. For instance an AR15 pistol or HK 53 or 91 pistol.
