Our move to the greater Houston area is nearly complete.

Went to PSC's website to join. Their classes for orientation are full until mid-Feb. Signed up for the available time but what do I do in the meantime? I cannot shoot my new .223 Bolt action that I got for Christmas or any of my handguns or shotguns until then???

Are there any per month or per day places available locally that you all suggest?

We had memberships to three different ranges up north and are both NRA members.

This makes me sad.

I am not sure where your at but if your out towards PSC it would be a haul to go to ASC or Hotwells, ASC is a fairly strict range but you can go out to 600 once you qualify the 100,200,300 you just shoot on with the 100 and pistol being the most regulated.
Hotwells is kinda run down but a great bunch of folks and they only have 100 range, I personally have not decided what I am going to do for a range as the membership for PSC is $150/yr but I gotta drive 100 miles round trip which once I figure the gas cost it's gonna be about the same as the $300 ASC wants going about 3-4 time a month plus its only 6 miles from home, I do love the idea that PSC is 100% NRA and private

Inside Houston there is Top Gun Range which lets you shoot .223 and pistols. They are only a small indoor range though (i.e Rifle shooting will get boring)

PSC is awesome, trust me t's worth the wait.

You can also shoot your rifle at the indoor range www.thearmsroomtx.com which is on the south side of town.

Since you mention multiple memberships, you might look into this:

http://www.bayourifles.com/range-information/julliff-range

It's in the general area, and has 3 to 1000 yard ranges plus a single station trap thrower.

For what it's worth, the city of Texas City has a nice outdoor range near the dyke. Skeet, trap, pistol, & rifle out to 100 yards. I take my stepson out there and have never had a problem with them. I think it's $8.00 per gun,(pistol/rifle) no time limit and $6.50 for a round of skeet/trap - 25 birds. It's cheaper if your over 55 or a resident of Texas city. http://www.texas-city-tx.org/ShootingRange/ShootingRange.htm
