Hey All, Figured I'd ask this in the hometown forum since people here still care about the pre vs post ban configurations and the concerns that are involved. I just struck up a deal with someone on a pre-ban Colt Sporter Target model (complete lower) as a trade for two new stripped lowers. Was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the Sporter Target as I'm not familiar with them. Did some reading and it looks like they all came with the sear block and ground off the bayo lug to make them more P.C. before the ban was put in place but I don't know much more about them than that...are they any good? ...or, if they are junk, are they at least good for the trade that I'm working out? Other questions for anyone who might know: Did all of Colts guns leave the factory as complete rifles? Has anyone had any luck getting a letter from Colt stating that a gun is pre-ban? I'd like to have something like this "just in case" if at all possible. I plan on verifying this with Colt, I'm just interested in the mean time while I'm waiting on the S/N from the person I'm trading with. Thanks a lot |
| They are far from junk. I use one for service rifle comp's and it's as good as any other high quality AR I own. The worst thing about them is the limited choice you have for trigger groups. I do see that RRA now offers one of there 2 stage units for the sear blocked colt. I'll be trying it out next season. |
