I took the Class a little over a year ago.  I'm having trouble finding out if there is a limit on how long it is good for me to use to apply for my CCW?  I think I found something that says 3 years.  Is that correct?

Our understanding (as instructors) is that it would be valid from date of issue to a possible date of first renewal (6 years) as they are valid for that renewal.

So 12 months should not be an issue.

Yes, you must apply within 3 years of the cert issue date. First renewal all you need is your CHL as proof or training, second
renewal you must show proficiency with an instruction, no more written test or 12 horror stipulation. For the most part after the
first 12 hour class you are set for life. Buckeye Firearms Association has slowly chipped away at the renewal training requirements for Ohioans. Course everyone should train and practice as much as feasible.

Initial license requires certificate of competency to be no more than three (3) years old.

First renewal (after five years) requires no re-certification, so you're good for ten years if you get your license within the next two years.  What's the reason for delay?

No one has yet come up for second renewal and won't until 2013 or so.
