I don't like S&B

Prefer Nightforce, always have.

March have a fantastic reputation - not easy to come by though from what I've heard.

What made you choose the Nightforce over the Schmidt Bender ? Thought you were a big fan of the latter ?

I do like Schmidts, but I'm not a fan of first focal plane reticles. I've always preferred second plane where the reticle is a constant size and doesn't change, depending on what power you have it set at. It's preferrable when shooting standing snaps.

I've also come to the conclusion that the Schmidt's are a bit too heavy, although that's only a minor consideration.

If Schmidt made the scope I desire then I would buy it.

However, having looked back through the CSR results to 2006, which was the last year where I really shot well ( and was about the time I got diagnosed with the Glaucoma thing), I've come to realise that it was about that time that I got rid of my Leupolds that I had done so well with for several seasons and changed to Schmidt & Bender. And since then I really haven't done that well.

I did think about going the Leupold route again but find the Nightforce's more appealing, and after looking through a few at the weekend have made my mind up.

That's about it.

Got meself a 5.5-22x50 Nightfore the other week. I can see me becoming a NF convert - they are good stuff, apart from trying to fit the f£*%^ing Butler Creek caps.

Good choice, I got the 2.5-10 x 24 NXS with the NP - R2 reticle earlier this year, very pleased with it. The only regret is I should have got the zero stop option. Just looked at NF's website and it looks as if it's no longer available.

I think you have made a good choice, I got the 2.5-10x24 NXS compact about a year ago and I am happy with it.
I also like the ret being in the second focal plane, and find the optics clear and gather plenty light
I just made the mistake of not getting the correct turrets, but I just remove the caps and keep them
safe during comps, the clicks are precise and return to zero is perfect.

I have also  just joined the NF club with a 12 - 42 NXS on a newly acquired Tikka 695 stainless in 6.5 x 55 Swedish. This is  to provide a heavier alternative to my existing blue 595  in .243 Winchester. The 243 does not like heavy bullets although it shoots 80gr very well. The 6.5 is primarily a range rifle hence the big scope. I actually was after a 5 - 25 but this (used) one was available. I am very impressed by the image quality, the high magnification makes spotting effortless. It is also a lot lighter than it looks, there is not a lot between it an the 595 with the Swarovski.

So far I have only been at 100 yards with it on my stalking permission zeroing area, but I am looking forward to getting it onto the range.

Didn't we change to limited 4.5x magnification about then? That must have had quite an effect on the scores...

Me three. I don't need to range with my sporting firearms and I was put off FFP shooting Fig 11's past 300yds with a #1 reticule. Post was wider than the bloody target past 300................

You've got to be careful. I turned mine up to 14x at 200yds to look at the spotting discs. Then standing at 100yds I was all over the shop, having forgotten to turn it back down again..........knob

Arrived this morning, and very nice it is too.

Once I get it fitted and zeroed I can figure out the zero stop turrets.

The Mil-dot one with the hollow dots.

Only thing is that the scope's metric but that's not an issue.
