Hello All,

Im looking to build another "Evil" Black Rifle, But I am wondering what would be the best route to go. I am trying to Make one with 16' M4 contour barrel with FSB. I am thinking DD but wondering is there anything out there with great quality that I can find for a cheaper price floating around on the interweb

I dont know If I want to go with a Noveske matched upper and lower, or you guys have any suggestions for a decent set or mix and match  because I would like my upper and lower to match up unlike my last build of a POF lower and YHM upper the color was just lighter on the lower.

I am located in appleton area, Is there anyone around here that would be able to help me assemble once I get all the parts?

Thanks
Dave

I am in Appleton. I can help you assemble. What is your budget? If you can swing it, I highly recommend a Larue Stealth or Larue OBR, amazing rifles. I haven't seen a better combat rifle. They're a little pricier. Daniel Defense is good stuff! I can definitely help you assemble.

I want to put a DD lite 7.0 Carbine length on it.
Im just stuck trying to figure out what upper and lower I want, Im hung up on the Noveske Matched set but those are pricy Any suggestions on any other uppers and lowers?
any suggestons on Bolts?

Im not that big of a fan of Larue I called to ask a question and the owner is a real DICK, He thinks his SHIT don't stink. So that turned me off of Laure Products.

I have been pleased with my BCM standard upper - have had zero FTF and only FTE were my fault (e.g. Blocking ejection port). Not sure how accurate they are on average, but it has been plenty accurate for 100yd shooting with irons. With a scope best group I had prior to free float was about 0.9"...

My upper is a combo of DD Barrel (M4 profile) DD low profile gas block, DD 12" LITE rail and BCM Upper and BCG... LOVE IT.

So the DD lite 7.0 would be a good choice. I am looking to make a carbine length upper.

BCM? good quaility?

BCM and DD are both excellent quality.

Does anyone know where I can find a Matched set Noveske upper and lower .  Or where I can find a Daniel Defense lower for cheap online ?
Everywhere I look they are usually on backorder.

DD and Noveske are going to be on backorder, that's just how it is.

Daniel Defense no longer offers their lowers for sale.

You would be better off ,(if you wanted a complete DD rifle), ordering this and swapping the rail if you really had your heart set on the Lite rail.
Given that the Omega X has QD swivel sockets, I would choose the Omega X over the Lite.

You could always buy a
Colt 6920 for around $1200 and add your rails.

My own personal experience is this:
I've owned or built 3 uppers using DD barrels.
They do not compare to the BCM uppers I own.

You're eyeballing some quality components.
Good for you.
Stay away from the kit/gunshow stuff and you should be fine.

ETA: Don't concern yourself with "fit and finish". It has zero bearing on function or reliability.

I figured that as much because i scoured the internet trying to find one. Well a local FFL has YHM upper and lowers, I was hoping to assemble a nicer one but if i cant find any I will probably go with YHM.  Im just not giving up hope just yet. Hopefully I can find a Noveske or DD.
Im not a big fan of the Gunshow shit,
I know finish doesn't matter but deep down your like shit the colors dont match on the upper and lower. Thats the problem I had with a POF lower and my YHM upper.  I am  just trying to have a better color match.

Color matching can be done by just oiling it or Duracoat.

Both of these are put together with a myriad of different companies parts.  I would stay away from the DD receivers and Noveske if it was me.  There are better, more affordable stuff out there IMO.

The only problems I have had really are with both of those companies.  Fit wise.  Finish looks great, but the fit sucked

I appreciate the heads up.  Im probably going to go with the yhm upper and lower because the ffl by my house has them and i wont have to wait forever to get them.

What do you know about the DD lite rails?  Im looking to get the lite 7.0

Easy to put on if you have the wrench (I have one somewhere) and a torque wrench. This is my 12" model. You basically slip a ring on, install the barrel and then tighten the barrel nut down with the ring in place. (If you have a FSB you have to remove it to get it on.)  Then you slide the rail on over the barrel and screw it down with six socket head cap screws, so your best bet if you have a FSB is to get a 2 piece model that clamps to the stock barrel nut.

Better view of the ring and screws

They are easy to put on but very time consuming and carpultunel inducing for me.  I dread taking it off.  Almost makes a guy want to go out and buy new allen wrenches.

Nice rifle Osris!

Thanks AMU, yes major pain in the ass when I was getting my upper squared... (Barrel to Upper fit was off) must have put it on and taken it off 5 times that night. And I just realized mine is the 10" model not the 12", don't know why i was thinking 12...
