Does anyone know if there has been any convictions for possessing a "NYS post ban assault weapon" without any other extenuating circumstances?

nope....

would i leave the house with a rifle that was considered an AW?  no...  would i fear being charged?  probally not..... (unless you shot up a school, or were a drug dealer..)...  other than that i wouldnt worry too much (especially the 922 complaince bit).

It is a charge that gets tacked on with other more serious charges. No one on record has been charged with it by itself. I read about a guy in LI or NYC that was just charged with it after shooting his rifle outside his house in a subdivision IIRC.
