Waiting for CLP to dry a bit before taking more pictures but the assembling went smooth as butter (except the front-takedown detent, grrrrrrr ) with help from the guides in BIY.

Basic function test is good. Extractor works when manually cycled. Fit is pretty good with just a little play at the rear take down pin. Color is all over the place but I expect the lower to match the upper when it gets some more CLP. Mags drop free and the one (out of five) BM 15-round magazine I used to test feeds and loads well.

This is a picture I took just prior to starting the build. I'll edit with more pictures in 20 or so minutes when the solvents evaporate.

ETA: more pics! I think Stickman would be proud of the last one. A special thanks to Tom Sawyer Mfg. I purchased the DPMS stripped lower and engraving service from them. Excellent engraving work. I'm keeping them in the back of my mind for future projects.

ETA2: Shout out for Antonio, PK90, FMJ, Liondog and everyone else from the 12th NJ Blast. You guys rock!

What did you have engraved on the rifle?

Thanks for the compliments. Makes the fustration of waiting out the FID almost worthwhile when long-time shooters like my work. Unfortunately, I will be back at college on the 27th. I really wish I could make it but academia calls.

The flash hider ist verboten on a postban rifle in NJ. The one you see is an RRA pressed-on faux hider. It's just for looks, doesn't do anything except maybe protect the crown of the barrel.

I'm still trying to take pictures of the engraving but my camera is real finicky with really tight shots. I will post a pic when I snap a good one.

ETA:

I'm pretty sure everyone here can use their imagination and fill in the blanks. Lemme just say that those two months were one helluva ride! I'm still dizzy from it.

Got back from the range. 319* rounds of XM193 without a hitch. Had a finicky mag that didn't want to engage the bolt hold open. Did the 1 round, 2 rounds test first. You should've seen my face expecting my rifle to kB! After that, I ripped through four mags doing three-round rapid fire strings. The gas tube was smoking from CLP boiling off and I burned myself on the FSB. I was happy as a pig in shit, couldn't erase the smile on my face.

I still need a proper set up to zero the rifle. The good news is that with me behind the trigger, I can do minute of man at 100 yards.

The rifle runs awfully dirty. Liberal amounts of CLP kept the grime as a thick sludge instead of abrasive powder. I gave my new baby a good cleaning and she's drying out in my dining room.

*It would've been 320 rounds except I found this amongst my XM193: I'm saving this one for when the zombies attack at night.

ETA: This dirty:
