SB 319 (permit-less carry) is effective immediately. You may now carry without a permit, provided that you are not ineligible for a permit. Keep in mind that the many and endless list of Unconstitutional off-limits locations (that Kemp refused to get rid of) currently in Georgia law are still in place.

- There are no new restrictions in the current version of the bill/law. If you could or couldn't carry there with a permit before, the same still applies now.

- Also keep in mind that none of the school zone exemptions apply to you if you do not have a permit issued to you by the state in which the school resides.

- The previous permitting system will remain in place, unaltered, for those who wish to apply for one for reciprocity, etc. issues.

HB 218 (universal permit recognition) does not become effective until the first day of July. It will allow anyone possessing a permit from any state to carry in Georgia.
