Boy did I look like a dumbass, I showed up this morning bright and early at 9:00 ready to register, and what did I find out?  It's a two freaking day match, and most of the people have shot about 3/4 of the stages.  Oh well I still got some trigger time in, promoted the website, and had a good time.  I got to meet MikefromPhilly and VSP and had a good time.  I also talked with Bill Clay about possibly having a group shoot at SRGC ala B'ham FOP range.  He said we need to come up with a proposal and talk to him about what we would like to do and what day(s) we would like to do it.  So far the only No-No I heard was Absolutely Positively no Full Auto or Bump-firing, and he sounded a little bit cautious but receptive about using Tannerite (I guess we'll have to do a demo of the SMALL targets).  All in all a good day, and maybe we'll have a meet date there with the Bama Boys, and other local shooters.  What would you guys like to see out there?  Also there were some "flasher" targets on the long range rifle that looked like they would be good to use out at SRGC, B'ham, and CE.  The only problem I see is cost the small ones were approx $225, and the large one was approx $300.

How did things go for you equipment wise?  Did you use the AK?

yep used the AK there was only one stage where a mag change was required.  No failures to feed, but the HK was holding on to the mags pretty hard.  Overall the long range rifle stage was the most fun.  Something about tagging steel at 200 yds.

GASP...you were actually hitting something at 200 with an AK?!?

I'm calling bullshit here.  Everyone knows that an AK can't hit shit past 75 yards.

200 yds, believe it.   Delta is really smooth, accurate, and fast with both rifle and shotgun.  I shoot with folks that despite years of practice, don't even approach his skill level.

Just so you aren't surprised, South River has a guest fee of $10 if you are accompanied by a
member. They don't let in unescorted guests
for rifle or pistol. I'm not a member at this time but hope to be someday. Perhaps VSP is?

They have a nice rifle range that goes out 200+ yards. If there is interest, we could do a mini-match by doing some long range rifle, set
up a USPSA style pistol "stage", and do a couple of runs with the plates. I'll bring targets, my timer, and run the shooters through. If nothing else, it would be a low key way to see what USPSA is like.

Good meeting you.

Mike,
Sorry, I'm not a member at South River either.  How'd you end up at the match? My rifle crapped out.  Technically, it didn't break, but I got a piece of shaved brass lodged in the ejector tube.  It kept causing my ejector to stick, whick it turn caused my rifle to become a single shot, double feed machine.  Although I did get a lot of good practice at clearing every type of jam known to man. Very frustrating.

Delta423,
Sorry about forgetting to mention that it was a two day match.  I didn't realize your were coming to compete.  Did you get a chance to polish up that AK trigger yet?

nah I haven't even moved the firearms from the corner they got stuck in sunday afternoon.  I got home, crashed on the couch about 7 and when crystal got home she shuttled me off to bed and I slept till about 12 the next afternoon.  Boy did I have fun at work last night though I had to change a 757 overwing slide.  Talk about a lot of monkey motion.  That sucker makes an AR seem about as simple as an AK.

BTW Eric Congrats on the Awards.  I was soo pooped that it was hard for me to even clap.
