So as the days pass by and we near the halfway point to the 31st of January, any hints on this month’s theme, or will it be a return to the standard practical format? Regards, Matthew (m4_a3) |

Great question.
It's gonna be a short course, with pistol, rifle and shottie stages. Shottie will be fired on the trap range. Here's the complete CoF, the loadouts, and the match format. http://spreadsheets.google.com/[email protected] With permission, I hijack Matt's thread, here to provide some general announcements. For those that have not shot with us before, we require that you arrive 30 minutes early, or 0830 in order to attend a mandatory safety briefing. New procedures starting this month will require a brief inspection of gear. We're not gonna dig under your charging handle with a white glove here. We only want to make sure you have a proper, strong side holster, eye/ear protection, and a serviceable firearm that you know how to operate properly. Starting this month and for the remainder of 2009, the match fees are $10 members, $20 non-members. There are prizes that will be issued. We have Gold, Silver, and Bronze dog tag sets for this match. They are excellent, and it's likely we'll continue with them. We also have some food planned. A large pot of hot soup, and some baked ziti I believe. Please bring your own beverages. Thank you all for a successful year in 2008. I just ordered eight new pieces of steel, including four spring-reset popper type targets. If these arrive, they will be used in the January match. I'm starting to get stage suggestions from people, and I like that a lot. The 2009 Zombie match will be a 3-Gun! We will be running several practical rifle instructional clinics as well. They will be specifically focused though. Either close-in shooting & handling skills, or on longer distance shot placement & marksmanship fundamentals. Also effective for this year - shooters under 18 years of age may not shoot the match on their own. We will grant specific and particular exceptions for this if the young person's parent has been shooting with us regularly. The parent/child must meet at the range on a non-match day where the prospective shooter will be required to demonstrate that they can efficiently load, unload, show clear, handle an induced malfunction, and repeatably demonstrate all safety practices required. If the shooter is not ready, please don't take it personally. Again, this paragraph applies to under 18 yoa only.
Thanks everyone! See you on the 31st. ––Fargo007 |

I don't think I can make it due to the travel. If I do, are suppressed rifles allowed? Yes, they are always welcome. The only things that aren't allowed is full auto and .50 BMG (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). There is an exemption the board gave us for LEO's who wish to compete with a department firearm that is select fire. It has to be used on semi only, and kept under their exclusive control. ––Fargo007 |

We're going to meet right on the short range NLT 0900 this Saturday.
Save yourself some time, and stack up three 10 round mags. Please everyone, double check and make sure you have all the proper gear. Especially Chamber Flag, eye/ear protection, strong side holster, birdshot only for the shotgun. We have a good lineup for you this month. How often do you get a chance to be "JACK BAUER!" Let's have an orderly, safe, and fun day, and I'm sure all you Jack Bauer's will make the bad guys pay the price. ––Fargo007 |

Scores are up.
These are the numbers, but not the finish order prize-wise. Lots of people left before the trophy round, which consisted of a repeat of the first stage conducted on a paper plate at 50Y. Those who had no rips qualified for the prize round. It took a lot of heart to get that done after a strenuous day like that. Tim L - 1st Jason U - 2nd (forgot his name!) 3rd. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pITxn9h_zYf4w4iVjfmYUCQ&hl=en Special thanks to Christine for the soup, Wade for the Kolbasz and sauerkraut, and my wife (the angel of baked ziti). Thanks, and come shoot with us again. If you like what we're doing, join the club! We need your support. The more staff we have, the cooler we can make the match. Try our pistol matches out too. 1st Saturday of the month. You get a decent price break on matches as a member, and you get to be a part of something very very cool. ––Fargo007 |

Once again, this was a great event! Thanks to everyone who put the time in to organize and run the event. Freddy and the rest of the RSO's were great at balancing fun and safety. I can't wait for the next one! -Edit- Thanks to the generous individuals who made us the delicious food. It was the icing on the cake and a great chance to warm up and chat with the rest of the brethren.
