Ill be moving down there Thursday.I'll swap drivers licences and truck registration and all that ASAP and become an OK resident.

What are there for gun shops and surplus stores in that area?
Wheres the best place to get reloading supplies?
Anywhere around there selling AR and other AW parts?

Anyone know of a decent weekly apartment rentals or motels by the week that arent crackhouses?

Whats the hunting like round there?
How far do you need to go to shoot prarie dogs?(never done it)
Whats down there for deer or simmilar game?

Ive run a simmilar thread in GD a while back, and know to avoid the Noth side of Tulsa, any other info I should know?

ETA...........Whats the process for getting a CCW there? How much? How long?(Ive already taken the NRA class)

First you must each oklahoma Team Member 1000 rounds of ammo of thier choice.

Second, BEER, 1 case per member, again thier choice, make mine Bud long necks or Coors light.

Cant help you on Tulsa, dont live there.

Deer are good here in OK, if you can find a place to hunt, get ready to guard it, I have found alot of deer hunters to be a cut throat lot when it comes hunting season.

CWL, here in oklahoma, you must be a resident, take a 8 hour class, shoot 50 rounds of ammo, submit a application, photos and finger prints, along with the money, and wait about 90 days, good for 5 years.

Also when you take the test, shoot with a semi-auto handgun, Oklahoma lists what kind of handgun you can carry, if you test with a semi-auto, you can carry a Derringer, Revolver or Semi-auto, if you donr then you can only carry the type of handgun you tested with.

Ill be a resident ASAP..........soon as I find a place to live.

Ive taken an NRA aproved CCW pistol course here in MI and we have 4 hrs range time and shoot at least 100 rounds, plus have 8 hrs class time(one of the many over-blown gov regs) it doesnt state that it was with an auto ,but it was.I dont mind taking another class if I must..........it was fun,but finding the time when Im not on the road will be hard

I guess I probably will have to talk to the ...........who is it I talk to,anyways?
Local sherriff? Town hall? County building ? or who??Where do you apply??

Capt Morgan will do.

Yes, you will have to re-take a class for your CWL, as far as I know, I dont think you can transfer a CWL from another state.

As for the resident of the state, I beleive you have to wait 6 months, need to double check on that.

Several changes for you. We have deer in OK but nothing like you have in MI. It is best to get on private land but some good hunting can be found on public lands. You will be reasonably close to some public lands. Besides the regular season we have a bonus deer season. Check out the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife here. http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/ As far as firearms go you will like it here a lot better than MI. May not be your thing but OK is a National Firearms Act Class 3 state. So you will be able to own suppressors, short barrel rifles / shotguns, machineguns, ect if you choose to. So in short, not as many deer to hunt but you now have more of your second amendment rights back. Welcome to OK. Bill

Don't frequent gun shops in Tulsa too often, I can get better deals on the web.
But here's a few:

Sports World

www.sportsworldtulsa.com/

decent selection, can somtimes find ok deals on used guns, they have reloading supplies too. Last time I was there, they wanted $35 for a handgun transfer, I went to Green Country Pawn and got it done for $18

Dongs

www.dongsguns.com/

Alot of people badmouth them, say they're expensive, I really don't know. I've only been there once, to help a friend check out a Sig P225. They also seemed to have alot of reloading supplies.

Oklahoma Police Supply

www.oklahomapolicesupply.com/

Never been here, so i don't know.

Tulsa Firearms

www.tulsafirearms.com/

High prices on guns, they have an OK indoor range, but they charge to much for their range fees IMO. Also annoyed me that they charge $100 for the Concealed Carry class, including a "free" 1 year membership. All other places charge $60 for the class, minimum required by state law. 1 year memberships cost $40. Hence the "free" membership. I asked about just taking the class, not interested in the membership, they did not want to do that.

For AR-15 stuff, Tromix is in Broken Arrow!

www.tromix.com/Welcome.htm

I have a lower made by Tromix, it's good quality. I'm sure he could do anything you want to your AR. Not sure if they have a actual storefront or not, I keep meaning to check that out.

Anyway, those are a few to look at, you may want to check out the tacked ranges link for places to shoot too.

Don't forget the Tulsa (Wammensdjdfgrfghrg sp???) Gun Show.  It is held twice a year, but the one in Oct is always during primitive firearms season.  Be sure and wear comfortable shoes, and block out an entire day or two, because it is 11 acres of tables.

In the 31st and Memorial area there are several nice extended stay motels.  Tulsa's a great city with lots of nice people.
Like any city, their's a few assholes too.  People basicly are friendly.  There are also several shooting ranges including an indoor range.  Tulsa Firearms is a good place to start.  It's out on South Garnett just before you reach 61st street.  They also offer Conceiled weapons permit classes.  Owned by Riley Gilmore, former shooting champion.  I belong to Sandsprings Sportman's Club.  It's an outdoor range for skeet, pistol, military range etc.  Best rates in the area.  $100.00 initiation and $50.00 a year after that.  15 minutes from downtown tulsa.

In my job I often go hunting in motels here you go

Royal...the bed bugs probably wont carry you off

The interstate inn it is full service, you can buy your protitutes, meth and the bugs will carry your baggage

I dont know were the relax in is I havent heard of that one.

The Oasis on 11th is not that bad,  generally any motel on 11th street or east of Memorial on  admiral
is a hooker/drug heaven. The same for the ones out by the I44 turner gate ie the interstate, gateway,
america's value inn. The motel 6 and big 8 are exceptions.

If you are looking for storage near BA there are two cheaper motels there. I beleive one is now called
the Broken Arrow Inn and they do/did have weekly rates
There is another motel on Elm just south of the Broken Arrow expressway (hwy51). I beleive  it has longer rates and was clean.

If omoney is not an object there are several motels on 71st st that are extended stay.  There are two extended stay motels  in the 31st and Memorial area. Those would probably the ones I would choose.
Turn on the road behind IHOP. The first one is right there, It is the most expensive. If yuo follow the road all teh way to the back there is the cheaper ones. There is another in that are that has a good deal on  suites.

If you are still looking for info IM me.
I live in Jenks, which is SW tulsa like BA is SE tulsa basically.
Jenks has lowest crime rate in the state.
Schools have been rated in the top5 in the nation for a few decades.
Several members here live down here in the Jenks, BA area.
Red Castle Gun Club in Sand Springs is awsome for long range rifle, IDPA, and your basic blastin of whatever you want type shooting, and they have indoor heated and A/C club houses with plumping and vending machines and indoor ranges and lots of competitions.
Happy Hollow range is in Sapulpa abou 15 mins away and is pretty nice and the owner is a good guy, just make sure you keep an eye on your buger or Lucky will snag it.
A few of us from here get together and make some big orders on the web sometimes for ammo and we also have a good friend who reloads for us dirt cheap and it is Very High Quality, like his rendition of the TAP .223 stuff or his 230 grain .45 Super gel filled star cut hollow points that flatten out like you can't believe.
I know a guy who has 160 acres of prime deer hunting land about 45 mins from here and another who owns 2000 acres about 3 hrs south of true mountains with deer, elk, cougars, black bear and all the other goodies like water mocassains, HUGE rattlers and copperheads to name a few.
IM me if you have any questions.
Oh and stay away from North Tulsa, which in my opinion is anything north of 71st St S. and stay away from East Tulsa, anything east of memorial, stay away from west tulsa too.
South tulsa from71st to 111th  between riverside and memorial is the safest and nicest area of tulsa. To truely make a safe bet pick a small town just outside tulsa like Jenks or Bixby which are both real close to BA.
Also STAY AWAY from 61st and Peoria area, big time drugs, rape, murder, drugs and all that stuff.

Jenks has the lowest crime rate according to  who. Why was Broken Arrow named Okla's Safest city. Jenks doesn't even have a walmart anymore. While I would not want to deal with the traffic of 71st and Memorial what will make Jenks any better?? In a very short time with all of the commercial developement Jenks is going through it will be like Ba or Owasso in growth. You have all the developement by the aquarium...it is going to be a zoo. It was only about 2 years ago that Jenks bearl disbanded there police dept. to go with contract policing. Jenks is all right. But dont put it anywhere close in a league with, Ba, Owasso so forth

Almost every year the state crime statistics show Jenks as the lowest or second lowest crime rate in OK and when it is the second lowest it is second to a very small out in the middle of no where town. Jenks doesn't have a walmrt but thats a good thing as it keeps congestion and un needed traffic out of here. Walmart is 30 seconds across the bridge though and the supercenter is a few more minutes down the road. Jenks is re-vamping the streets to re surface them and widen them to assist in traffic flow increase. The PD here is good and very friendly and the FD is GREAT. When I said the north east and west sides were to be avoided I was just trying to stear a new comer to a good decent area til he learns the area himself and can make an informed decision and my saying those things were based on the high crime rates in those areas mainly, and the better schools and housing in south central tulsa area. I have lots of friends who live all around tulsa as matter of fact another member here used to live on the west side and he can attest to the gangs, drugs, crime and all else that goes on there and his ex-sort of girlfriend used to live on the east side and it was the same way. I have a lot of friends who are on PD's around here and OSBI as well as several local think tanks and economic development comittees and such so I am going by the facts and opinions stated by people who have just a little bit of knowledge in the area, but like I intended to say NOT all areas in the north, east and west are bad but that is the general consensus by most.

Well guys,Im here. Been here for about three weeks now.

Im without a computer for now,so Im at the mercy of the local library hours (not too bad, most open till eight)

Got into a pretty nice little 1 bdr  at Fountain Crest on 71st  just west of Lewis ,right beside the Marriot Hotel.

Jobs going good so far.Checked out quite a few of the local gun shops around town. I havent even been North of 11th st yet.........and been told I aint missing anything.

If any of you in the area have a decent heavy desk for sale,I need one for a loading bench......(it was an unfurnished apt,and its still pretty sparse)

Im going to try to get to Red Castle and get a membership soon. My trigger finger is itchy!!!!

I used to live in the Red River apts just across the little creek from you...but since I have moved back to where I grew up in AR.  You are in a pretty good neighborhood.  Everything you need is really close...wal mart, taco bueno, hot wok, creek casino....what more do you need, except for a good range to shoot at.  Happy Hollow was the best one I had gone to...I never did get to go to red castle...
