Just a post to introduce myself to the forum.  I am a Native Northeast Texan (Pittsburg - don't blink, you'll miss it).  Lived here my entire life, with the exception of time in the .mil and a little over a year contracting.

I registered on ARFcom a almost a year ago, and I have just purchased a membership.  I am former USMC, former Texas Peace Officer and Deputy Sheriff (lapsed while I was enlisted), did a little time contracting in the sandbox, and I have now resumed work as a Paramedic in my hometown.

I've not attended any forum functions, but I find myself with a bit of free time now and then, so I'm keeping my eyes open for events that I might be able to drop in on.

I'm rebuilding a stable of firearms I sold when I enlisted, so far I'm only up to an AR, an FAL, a .308 bolt gun and assorted Shotties and Handguns.  In the process of parting together another AR and breaking in the bolt gun, so I'm always looking for good places and like-minded people to shoot with.  Let me know if I'm in your area and maybe we can kill some paper (or some longnecks).

All in all, the Texas board looks like an, "interesting" group of folks (WTF is a "Hun Farm?" - ETA: Nevermind, I found the thread).  Hope I'll get a chance to meet a few of you along the way.

Pittsburg?  There are only two things in Pittsburg.

Beer stores, and chicken plants.

Mt. Pleasant, huh?  Small World.

No kidding on the beer stores (thank god) and the "chicken plants" (why everyone drinks).  But, you forgot Hot Links - they go with the beer.  (Besides, the chicken plant's new "world headquarters" is now closer to your alma mater - you gotta claim it).

You still in the M.P. area?  Glad to hear there's someone in the A.O. who shoots something besides .243's and 30-06's.

I used to live in Mt. P. and my parents still do, along with my soon to be ex and kids. I am up that way almost every weekend. It would be nice to have someone in that neck of the woods to do some shooting and beer killing with. My parents have 80 acres near Camp Langston(if you know where that is) that I shoot at when I am there. Shoot me an IM if your interested.

FALARAK, what year did you graduate? You might know some of my family or inlaws.

HA!  Didn't graduate until '93.  You guys are from an "Older Generation".

But I probably deal with some of your contemporaries on a daily basis - Nursing Home calls and all that...

Either of you gentlemen familiar with the Vinyard's Grocery out at King's Country (Near Lake Cypress Springs)?  The older white haired fella running that store is my father.  My brother is the Store Manager at the Brookshire's in Mt Vernon as well. (So how the hell did I end up in the Corps and then carting around sick folk?)

Very small world.

ETA: I'm not the youngest head screwed on backwards little brother who lived in Mt Vernon for a while.  In case he owes you money or something.  (I only wish I was kidding - but I can collect for you if that is the case. )
