Greetings fellow AR15 members.  Can anyone tell me how the job market in AZ is?  Cost of living?  Guns laws etc.  I was just laid off and am considering moving to either Arizona or Nevada.   What are some of the newspapers there?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a bunch.

Sorry, Arizona is full.

You must first prove you have removed a liberal before moving here.

The job market isn't too hot, but it kind of depends on what you do. If you are in the medical field, they will beat down your door to hire you.

Cost of living is lower than most other cities the size of Phoenix. But then, salaries are a little lower, too.

Gun laws? CCW shall-issue, NFA friendly (sometimes a pain to get CLEO signoff), open carry allowed, some of the largest & best ranges in the US, and if you are into competitive shooting you won't have any problems finding a match, expecially if you are into IDPA, USPSA/IPSC, 3-gun.

No AZ is overfull.  DON'T COME HERE!  Everyone who can't get work comes here and drives down the wage rates across the board.

DON'T COME HERE.  Yes.  I am a Native.

Did I forget to mention DON'T FUCKING COME HERE AND CLOG UP MY FREEWAYS.

1.  Are you a Republican and a complete gun-rights person?  If yes, space can be arranged.  If no, sorry-- however, California's taking applications.....

2.  Job market:  What do you do?

3.  Cost of living may be lower, but the wages are also.

4.  Gun laws:  If it's legal under federal law, it's legal here.  NFA is all good, CCW is easy, and open carry is fine!

5.  Newspapers:  Arizona Republic, East Valley Tribune, West Valley Tribune, and the Arizona Star are the main papers I know about.  There are also tons of smaller ones.

One day we'll take our State back.

+1  Medical

That is the field I am in.  If you are skilled, you will probably have no problem finding a job in AZ.  Mucho folks retire here, so the medical industry is booming and is generally unaffected by consumer trends.  In Pima Co. the Sheriff's dept. does sign off on NFA stuff.  CCW takes a butt numbing 16 hours of needless drivel, but it is worth it.  Around here, you can usually find a match or three every weekend and Cowboy Action shooting is booming, so to speak......

i have been in AZ from Kalifornistan for just over a year.  I am re-attached to my black rifle and have 1.5 more.  This place is friggin' great!  Just hot.  We need more gun friendly voters here to keep the state stable, so welcome!

Keep in mind that Medical isn't just doctors and nurses, it is big business, similar to any business, with many of the same logistical requirements.  It is a booming industry.

One more 100% native here. On some level i have to agree with markm. Over the years I've seen the quality of life here slowly decline and the cities become congested. We have Liberal invasion from the West, which is threatening our political climate, and people immigrating from the East who come out here and want pretty trees and grass like they had back home, thus contributing to our drought situation.

That said, if your a pistol packing conservative that likes desert landscaping, and you work in one of the hot job feilds out here, there is definately a place for you.

FWIW, Arizona is a lot like Alaska. Pictures some trees and many of the places I went could have been Anchorage. Same kind of people too. I don't know abut their political views, but they are very friendly, and you can talk to someone on the street without people thinking you're crazy. Seriously, in Washington if you even acknowledge someone walking towards you on the sidewalk, most of them look freaked out.

I have many Zonie friends here.  Although I've only been here for 9 years. I lived in Kali for 6 years before coming here. And I lived in Oklahoma for many years before Kali. I was born in Maryland and lived their most of my youth.

For me I'm staying here. It's a great state.

As for alot of non-native people being here. That's just the way our society has turned out.

I did have one close shooting, Zonie friend.  Although he helped move his mom to ColoradoSprings one year. He came back and said he had enough of the heat. So he moved to Colorado.

As for the liberals coming here. I warn all of you Zonie's.

When I was in Kali. They first got the No Smoking State Ban. They then went after the AWB. Now they have another law. Banning .50 BMG rifles on 1-1-05.

I know most of you may not smoke. But you to should fight against the liberals on the smoking ban. Because after they get the smoking ban into law here. Then they will go after a Satate AWB law.

Just like they did in Kali.

Yep

Private property is private property.  If a business owner is having problems obtaining staff because of smoking or losing customers because of smoking, then let them get rid of the smokers.  Let the non-smokers avoid the business.

Out in AJ you can still smoke in restaurants and bars.

But if someone passed a law banning small children in restaurants and babies in theaters, I'd almost be for it.

I hate Arizona!

I've been here since 1978, and the only thing keeping me here is the fact that all my immediate family and my friends are all here, the gun laws here are the best, and it's such a pain in the ass to relocate.

Other than that, I'd move to NM, CO, WY, ID, MT, or WA in heartbeat!

I will say that growing up here in the late 70's and the 80's were great.  But Maricopa County turned into a shithole after the very early 90's.

I take that back....I don't hate Arizona....I just hate the Valley.

COLORADO'S gun laws are now  better than az.  CO. is open or concealed carry anywhere even in barsand  their are no more local ordances  in any cities or townsas of may 2003 . you can have a handgun in the car open or concealed  anywhere.  All NFA items legal.    There are a lot of state with similar gun laws to az  WY ID VA NM  AK VT ME NH    ECT JUST TO NAME A FEW.  There are 34 state in the us where if you have a concealed carry permit you can carry in bars .  Alot of other states have been passing new laws to make the gun laws better. www.packing.org

Another native, and I also agree that it's too crowded now.   I grew up in Yavapai county and I don't even claim it anymore because of the aborted, urbanized cluster fuck it has become.

I may move to Idaho and help fuck up that state, just like all you out of state refugees have done to me.

BTW, shooting on your own land out in the country will be an issue in Arizona.  You need to be 1/4 mile away from an occupied building.  Even if you have quite a bit of land, odds are that the local Deputies are gonna say you can't shoot (that 1/4 mile can be subjectively interpreted).

This is a throwback to when we had so much open public land that people could just drive a little ways and shoot on BLM or USFS land, it was safer and quiter than shooting in rural areas.  Now there are people running around everywhere in the desert and mountains so a safe improvised range is hard to find, but the attitude about shooting on rural private land still remains.

Well sorry to all you Natives but I'll be  headed down there in a week!  I grew up in the Peoples Republic  of California and I can't take it anymore!    Even the Conservative haven in the north is becoming overcrowded with hippies and there agendas!  According to them if you own more than two or three guns you are a gun toting hick!  So to hell with them and their tree sitting!   Anyways as soon as The Border Patrol hires me on (hopefully in a month or two) I'll be down there permanently to protect you from the ongoing Mexican Invasion!  (Nothing against latinos, your women are hot!)    heavy.gif
