Ok...I have my choice of 2 new (to me) rifles. The first is a CZ 452 American .22LR with nice scope. The Second is a Winchester Model 70 30.06. Both are priced about the same (from my uncle). Do I go with the cheap and very accurate plinker or the big boy that can take off a zombies head @ 1000yds. I have always wanted a 30.06 but its also fun being able to take out animal crackers with a .22LR @ 100yds. Last summer me, my dad, uncle, and their friend were shooting animal crackers @100yds with .22s. Then they decided the crackers werent a challenge so they took jawbreakers in the plastic wrapper and stapled them to the target. That was cool watching them explode. But then they get out the big guns and take out milk jugs at 5-600 yds. I dont know what to do. Maybe I'll just buy both.

If price is right buy both.  The 30.06 sells at retail stores and it not that expensive to get.  You should be able to find a 30.06 for around $300.  If you get one go with the plinker.

This is a buy both situation, especially if the M70 is an older, pre-'64 action

Im not sure about the Pre '64 action. I'll have to ask my uncle about it. He also has 30.06 with a Mauser action that I would like to have. PLEASE HELP ME SPEND MY MONEY LOL

If the Winchester is pre-64 you can't possibly pass it up.

Still, get both.

This shit reminds me of my single days..."Go for the hot chick on the left or, the hot chick on the right???"
AHHHHH the good ole days....lol

Ok...I called him. Its the Mauser he wants to sell me, not the M70. And it is Pre '64...bummer...
So...CZ 452 or Mauser 98 8mm....I thought the Mauser was a 30.06...

Then I'd say get the CZ for now and make sure he knows that when he is ready to pass on the Pre-64 M70 that you want first dibs!

OK. After careful consideration, I have decided to go with a Savage 111FCXP3 in a .30-06.
I have always wanted a high power bolt gun and since I will be doing some deer hunting this year, I thought it to be a wise choice.
I have read nothing but great reviews about these rifles. Dicks Sporting Goods has them for $399.
Its a package deal. You get the rifle, scope, and sling.
