Just in case any of y'all want to join me!
There's a couple of our friends who will already be out there, and I will have Turkey Dinner with the lovely and gracious Miz Hun, then turn my sights to getting the heck to the Hun Farm! So, rather than go to the big and bodacious Market Hall Gun Show that weekend, I will be doing my best to stay sober and responsible at the Hun Cabin. You know how I always fail at that endeavor! Details to follow. If y'all want to come that is! Now, remember there will always be a Dec. 26 to Jan 1, shoot out at the Hun Farm in case y'all want to wait for that! Eric The(Hospitable)Hun |

Think there will be mud these two weekends ???
I will see if I can make it the day after TG, but that depends on when my parents leave. |
Dang!
Thanksgiving is a HUGE hunting weekend for me. Need meat for the freezer! Then December, I'm hunting too, 12/27 thru New Years..... Looks like I'll have to wait till April to get back out there Hope y'all have a good time! |
Luckily, I only have to drive 45min to get to my blind, so I can be back in time for lunch. Did I mention it's a freebie ? OK, so there's hardly any deer, but it's the experience that counts. In the "it's not what you know - it's who you know department": I happen to buddy up to one of our Director/VP type guys who happens to be a huge hunter. Has a honey of a deal just out of Austin in Dripping Springs. He's buddies with this multi-millionaire who wants him to just "shoot as many deer as you want" on his 1000 acres. On the very last day of the season last year, I had 3 deer and 4 turkeys in my riflescope's field of view at 7x. I love freebies. I've got a few trips scheduled out that way again this year. Oh yes - the Hun farm. It's a hell of a drive from Austin, and ETH probably doesn't remember me, but the simple fact that I took a big picture of him without succumbing to the Photoshopping urge should buy me an invite. |

Zhukov, you would be as welcome as rain at the Hun Farm anytime you wish to come.
So come for a post-Thanksgiving Shoot and the New Year's Shoot and any other time you hear one of these soirees occuring. The invitation is an open one for all of y'all here! Eric The(KindHearted)Hun |

Wish I could make it Wayne but Thanksgiving doesn't mean much to my employer. Yall have a fun and safe time.

Sorry, Brother Hun. I'll be out of town during Thanksgiving, probably won't be back until Sunday. Between Christmas and New Year? A big maybe. Man, I just hate to miss these fabulous shoots at the Hun farm. |
Well my TG plans were just cancelled.... all this food I bought will probably spoil...
Not sure if I am going to the farm yet. |
Uh, you sure ETH wants this info posted everywhere? You MIGHT think about deleting this post. |

My wife was with me, now she's suspicious that I even go there and wants to know what I really do on those weekends. mm |
mm38, next time you get over here in Archer, give me a call. We can always get some tigger time in at my place if you're interested... fullclip |

As I said, ilikelegs, I woke up sick and decided not to go.
I figured there would be someone out there to entertain everyone, but it apparently didn't work out, did it? Eric The(StillApologetic)Hun |

I've seen flocks of about 25-30 almost every time I have been there. There were at least 80 and probably close to 100 in this flock. I just couldn't get them all to stand still for a group shot...errr ummmm photo. Yeah, that's it PHOTO! |
There's a lot to be said for being out at the Hun Farm all by your lonesome, eh, DPeacher?
What excellent photos! I am pleased as punch that you got such a great opportunity to see the Farm all by yourself! That's cool! Eric The(HappyHappy)Hun |
Thank YOU, ETH!!
Yes indeed, being out there alone is a very unique experience. I didn't utter a single word for about 50 hours until Ricky came looking for a few cows, and I spoke with him for about 2 minutes Thanksgiving morning. Thanksgiving evening I noticed my reflection in the glass on the door, and I was smiling for a reason unknown even to myself...In retrospect, I believe that smile was because I didn't have a care in the world and I knew that Jesus Christ our Lord was with me. It's not that you need to be overly concerned about the critters or even two legged varmits (there were numerous deer hunters on ATV's down in the Pease River), but things like catching yourself on fire while warming you backside or having the chainsaw kickback do cause one to pause for a few moments. I can easily understand what attracted the Moutain Men to the West... |
DPreacher, a trip like tha wil do a body and soul a lot more good than all the shrinks you can buy. Glad you had a great time... fullclip |

Absolutely true! Originaly, I was going to bring my son and my best friend with me. My best friends mom and step dad came to town on short notice, and my kid came home from school the day before we were to travel and informed me that he had a school project due on the 1st that he had been sitting on for over a week! I hustled over to the Office Max and got his supplies, chewed his ass real good, and let him know that project had better be squared away and ready for inspection when I came back. It was... |

Hey guys....I should be driving back from leave to south carolina on jan 1st or 2nd. ill be driving through dallas sometime during those days....yall got anything planned that an exiled texan can join in on?
There have been a few times that I've spent the night out at the cabin by myself, without even so much as Scooter to keep me company!
It is indeed a religious experience, and nothing, not Windex margaritas or a trip to the other side of the cabin, was needed to make me feel like the entire universe was created with me in mind! As I say, when you can spend some time to yourself, by yourself, you need to jump on the opportunity! This present world offers so few chances to do so! Eric The(SolitaryMan,AtTimes)Hun |

Check your IM Box in a minute! Eric The(Accomodating)Hun |

Boy last time I saw that BBQ pit was in April. Doubt I'll make it to the new years shoot if there is one. Hopefully make it to the april shoot, if there is one. <sigh> I miss the farm.

ETH - or others:
'bout how many miles is the farm from San Antonio? I may try to make it after Christmas. This has been quite the year for me... I could use some "out in the woods time." |
Plot a route to Vernon (go to Super Wally World for last minute supplies and groceries), then add about 30 to 45 more miles....
Thanks! |
Set the controls for the Heart of the Sun...
Nope, just look up 'Crowell, Texas' on Mapquest.com. If you can get to Crowell, Texas, the Hun can safely guide you the rest of the way in! E-mail me at [email protected] and I will give you excellent (so I've been told) directions for getting there! Eric The(WideOpen)Hun |

Great pics, DP. Next time, a turkey breekfast/lunch/dinner is in order. |
Yeah Mojo! I'd like to be able to take credit for being the "Great White Hunter" and stalking within striking distance of my wary pray..... but I was damn near trompled to death by the stampeading flock of turkeys on what appears to be their daily after breakfast routine. I had seen them the day before in that area, so I was pretty sure they would be headed in that general direction. I could EASILY get within 5 yards now that I know exactly where they are going.

Great excuse: Self defense. |
If I remember right I clocked 438miles one way from sea world going up 281 to Wichita Falls then left. |
