A work mate of mine brought in his Colt .45 deactivated pistol. The hammer does not stay cocked, It just moves freely. Any ideas what will cause this, I know there are some pretty clued up smiths on this forum.

Does it move freely under spring presure? or does itjust not lock back?

SOunds like the Sear is Knackered, Its a strip down and investigate job,

Im sure there will be a strip down guide somewhere on the net,
