Official thread...
9th annual GA HTF MOA Challenge will be on Sept 30, 2023 from 8am - 4 pm near Crawfordville, GA. what is it? A free day at a range for you to see how well you and your gear can shoot. Participants will shoot five - 5 shot groups on a single target at 100 yards. Prone with the use of a rear squeeze bag. gas / bolt / optic / iron sights... all are welcome. Rounds will be 30 minutes and there will be 2 targets per lane, per round. Use them as you wish. A spotter target will be available for each lane as well. These will not be changed out, but taped up between rounds. After you retrieve your target, you measure your groups and add your name and average group size to the "fridge of shame" leader board. Prizes awarded to best targets for gas gun, bolt gun, 22lr (50yards), youth (?), and best single group. Maybe more, maybe less. This is a sponsored shoot. LaRue Tactical is the founding sponsor for this shoot, and a big part of why this shoot still happens, but unfortunately is not sending anything this year. Several other companies are "in" as well. There are about 30 lanes for shooting. That being said, you may only get to shoot every other round as attendance for this shoot has been growing steadily every year. schedule... Safety briefing approximately 08:45 range hot 09:00 range cold 15:00 awards by 16:00 Staff and volunteers will be present on Friday to weed wack, rebuild the back stop, and generally just get things ready for a big crowd. Hopefully staff can shoot on Friday as well. If that sounds good to you, post up that you can help. If you are in a bind and can't shoot Saturday, but really want to do this, we will try to accommodate you on Friday afternoon and you can have a proxy get your prize at awards. No lunch this year. BYO lunch / drinks. I will add links soon to the official MOA Challenge thread and youtube video from last year. Please tag a buddy in your reply. Many people don't visit the HTF like they used to. questions... comments... excuses... let's hear them |

I'm in to help out on the 29th.
After last year I promised myself that I'd get more practice for the following MOA. I've yet to touch my bolt gun since. |

....Mimi and I will be in again for shenanigans....Plan to be there Friday to help set up....Gotta dig out the official GHTF MOA 'WTF' device (Warning The Firing line TM) and get it set up again....
...We need a list of volunteers for RSO started...or a list of voluntold RSOs, if need be... ..Looking for 4-6 total, 2-3 morning shift and 2-3 afternoon shift.. ..Duties will include, but not limited to: -Arguing over the size of rear bags ("but I use this all the time...") -Keeping people behind the firing line ("ARE YOU BLIND OR WHAT?") -Making sure people aren't playing with their piece while others are downrange ("...you know, that'll make you go blind...") -Keeping up with the cycle times ("...your watch is fast...I still have 45 seconds...") -and the joy of watching people jump when the siren goes off.... ...Seriously, range safety isn't something to joke about, and everyone has done something dumb without thinking about it...RSOs are needed to be the eyes and ears there to stop a event-ending accident from happening before it happens... ....and argue over rear bags... |

In for how large a group I can shoot.

As with years past, if someone needs a loaner or is curious if it’s them or their gear, I have a few known sub moa AR’s and bolt guns that will be available for use. I just need to know in advance so I can either load ammo or let you know what factory stuff it prefers.
I can assist with RSO activities when I’m not firing or helping other shooters if needed. |

Fuck! I’m on call that day.
So a 10.5” gas gun with a 1 MOA red dot=high score…so high score wins? I’ll go in tomorrow and begin my begging & groveling with others to swap with to make the show. |

If we can get the work done ahead of time, it would be great for staff to be done on Friday so we could have all the RSOs we need.
However… I know the staff quite well. That’s not likely to happen. Lol |
