just ordered a couple of boxes of the HST2's from the following website:
www.streichers.com
9MM box of 124 gr. for $13.50 box of 50... and a box of 50 of 230 gr. 45ACP for $17...
have to try them out before buying any quantity.......

That's precisely why I like them, too! Cheaper than GDs and they open up pretty as a flower!

Good luck w/those, Jem!

I have the .45 HST in my Kimber TLE and the 9mm in the Glock. If you are in the area, the Streichers location in Golden Valley has them in stock $16 for the .45 and $12.50 for the 9mm.

Here is a pic of the 230gr +P .45ACP

Yep, that's the place. It's just a few minutes from my work so I go there on lunch break sometimes. Just picked up some 9mm HST a few days ago. Great staff, very helpful and friendly.

What did you fire the bullet into to get it to expand like that? Gelatin?

That bullet was fired into gelatin. I have seen several of them now from various tests, bare gel, shirt and shirt, multiple layers of denim, and even the old milk jugs filled with water. They expand like that every time. Fedgunner would be much more qualified to tell you about the round then me, but every test result I have seen so far for the HST has been very, very good.

Well, I got a chance to check out the affect on a block of ballistic gel made by a .45 ACP 230gr+P HST. It was NASTY to put it mildly. Looked to be an easy 15 inches of penetration with a big spiral wound channel about the diameter of a tennis ball. All I can say it ouch. A round to carry with confidence.

Thanks for the tip on Streichers. They have the elusive 50rd boxes of HydraShock for just a couple bux over what most gun shops charge for boxes of 20.

HST offers better performance than hydrashock, and it costs less too. the 124gr 9mm is $12 per box of 50 at the store and $13.50 plus shipping online. i think the 45 was priced about $18 or $19 for a box of 50. as far as i'm concerned, that's a killer price for any high quality defensive ammo.

I actually considered switching to this for carry ammo, but I won't switch to any ammo that my carry weapon hasn't digested at least 200 rounds of without malfunction, and I haven't had time to test the HST stuff.

Do other places (Sportsmans Warehouse, etc) carry it in 50 rnd boxes also, or is it 20rnd boxes like the HydroShock stuff?

I haven't seen HST anywhere, online or in a store, except at Striechers. I have no idea where else you could get it.
