Just talked to a friend that had a table there today. He said they arrested one guy passing them but they believe there were several others.

Just a heads up.

Oh, joy!

Hey, on another note that will make me sound like an opportunist.....

I've got about a dozen anti-counterfeit markers- if anyone's interested, lemme know.  I can have 'em down at the Cav party on Tuesday.

Only the dealers can do the ripping off..!

Err, oops.

FWIW

Saw some fake 100s a couple months ago that "defeated" the pens.......

Only UV caught it,  watermark was also pretty damn good.

Huh.

Where to go from here; accept only $20's?  I thought those were the most counterfeited bills after the $100.  Insisting on only $50's won't work, as nobody really seems to have them.

...and there's no way in hell I'm conducting business only in those golden dollar thingys.

Damn thieves.

We see counterfeit all the time at the Casino I work at, The number one thing that busts them though is the "feel" of the bill, as real money is printed on a hybrid of cotton and some other secret stuff. The only actual anti-counterfeit device that seems to actually work is the ID strip. Real ID strips will show light through, but the fake ones are really dark if compared to real ones...  I have seen every bill from $100 under faked, so beware even if its only a $5.

"Bills are composed of 25% linen and 75% cotton; red and blue synthetic fibers are distributed throughout the paper."

I have been warning lots of local merchants about this. There has been a large number of "washed" and reprinted bills circulating. They bleach 1's or 5's and reprint with larger denominations. The only way to detect them is by looking at the water mark which is also sometimes semi-altered, and the silver stip which will clearly state the original denomination of the bill. I have seen and handled several of these fake $100 before they were turned over and they are also not that good. They printing is undersized and usually slightly disorted. Be vigilant and look carefully. The veri-pens are not foolproof.
