I'm just filling in the form for a variation on my FAC. I'm going for a 308, what do you think is the best way to fill it in. Do I just put down .308/7.62 or both individually?

Cheers

Sussex wouldn't let me put down .308/7.62 for the gun. I have both as ammo but they made me specify one or the other for the gun. With hindsight I should have applied for both and then I could have chosen!

All dealers I've met have sold .308 or 7.62 with either authority. Although there are subtle differences these tend to get “overlooked” during the conversion from metric to imperial.  I’d chose one and see if you can get authority for both ammo types, which will in fact double your capacity to purchase or hold.

If I were to chose one it would be 7.62 as this covers a multitude of sins…  he

I just did a variation for .223/5.56 and it came back as .223 (5.56x45mm) - so the new national system certainly can cope with this sort of thing.

It depends on your Force, but I applied for a single .308 rifle with duel ammo designations of .308/7.62 to enable purchase of either ammo.

Herts are happy with .308/7.62.  Ring them (Firearms Licensing office) ask if you're not sure. Most regions are pretty reasonable.

Cheers guys. I'm under Sussex authority so as rarms says they don't like .308/7.62.

I'll stick both down individually and see what happens, if they tell me to chose so be it, if they give me both even better.

Cheers
