Is Douglas county NFA-friendly?  I'm thinking of doing a suppressed 10/22 build.

Thanks,

FWIW my dad called the SO in Castle Rock two weeks ago and he claimed the Sheriff won't sign for NFA items.

YMMV

Yes, but he's new to NFA.

He is articulate, but may have used the wrong verbage. I'd call yourself and see. Maybe you can find an in with the dept.

I do know that when I inquired  back in 2004 I just didn't get a no, but a HELL NO!

I am collecting my NFA items while in FL before I move back just for this reason.

I live down in Parker and the answer is NO! Do yourself a favor and incorporate and eliminate the hassles.

PaddyWagon,
Thanks.  I've read about incorporating (as a LLC) and tried finding stuff about it.  Can you point me in the right direction for Douglas County, CO?

Long time lurker, first time poster.   hinking.gif  I have a question on the LLC approach for NFA paperwork.  I got my CO LLC as well as the federal tax id for this LLC over a year ago.  Since this LLC has no financial basis beyond an NFA, I have yet to get a local business license (do I need that as I'm not buying/selling/making/trading/etc. ?) although I have filled out the pertinent state and federal tax returns as required.  What LLC identification paperwork is needed for the NFA paperwork?

I went to "www.co-ar15.com > Class 3 firearms They have a good thread on that very subject," that BillofRights mentions in an earlier post.  There is some good info there and a guy who can probably give you a quick answer.

The sheriff in Douglas county was anti-gun. Within the last six or eight months he resigned and a new sheriff took his place. I have not had a read on him yet, so I don't know his stance. If he was the old guy's undersheriff, it is possible nothing changed.

That being said, the chief ranger for the forest service just tried to close the national forest in all of Douglas County to private shooting. The new sheriff and planning commission countered that, and the forest was not closed. Not yet. So there may be hope for Douglas County shooters.....

ETA - the LLC thread is here....
