Can you volunteer and help Arizona Game and Fish?  I do a fair amount of volunteerism with them.

Check with the local Habitat for Humanity for any ongoing projects.

How about working with the Boy Scouts? We could always use the extra help, and it's more rewarding than shoveling shit at the Humane Society.

Seriously though.  Check with the YMCA.  They are always looking for volunteers.

Thought about the scouts, but didn't believe there were any regular volunteer type projects.

Hmmm.

Unless you are in BSA admin (boo!), every job is a volunteer job. I'm the Scoutmaster for our Troop and I make exactly zero dollars for the time I put in, which is a lot. Most of the time it's like having a part-time job, and other times it's more. Just got back Thursday after spending 6 days at Scout Camp, for example.

Did the court provide a list of what orgs would be acceptable to volunteer for?  any guidlines you have to follow?

If BSA is acceptable I would find a friendly BSA troop in your area and volunteer to provide demos on first aid,  and wilderness survival,  etc.  I am sure there are involved Scout fathers here or on the Az site that could help make it happen.

If that form of CS is acceptable to the court and you are having trouble finding anything up there,  you could come down here to my boys Webelo group during a campout.  We could have you help with shelter building demos,  fire starting,  first aid etc...     the kids woud get solid training and you could get some some serious hours knocked out over a weekend.

Volunteer for some local veterans orgs?   Go to the VA to sit and talk with vets?

Just some ideas....

Yeah, I meant to write other than Scoutmaster. But thinking back to my days as a scout, I'm remembering more about the other volunteers that helped. My dad was actually the Scoutmaster of my troop for a while.

Lots of work.

Of course, we know you supplement your income with the ammo tax you charge to new Prescott area ARFCOMers.

BTW: if your scouts are shooting again soon and need ammo, put out the word.

Most municipalities have a volunteer Crisis Response team for their fire department. You generally do 12 hour shifts, though.

Where are you?

Hospices are usually looking for volunteers to visit patients. You can knock out the hours as fast as you want.

... maybe look into the Veterans Administration, medical data-entry, at-home computer work.

Serves our soldiers needs, while doing semi-intellectual, non-back-breaking work from home

I need to do some good works (300 hrs of it with a min of 100 hrs a year). It can be pretty much any non-profit group/charity. Ideally I would liek to do 2-5 hours a week at something (weekends/evenings) so I can knock this out quickly. Anyone know of anything?

Court orderd condition?  Check out the local food bank

Mmmmm I got caught in a lovely blinding hailstorm up near Green's Peak last year while out on my quad.  Had my cousins with me and when the lightning started hitting trees around us and quarter sized hail started pelting us, we opted to make a run for it  Hauled ass and managed to outrun it after about 8 minutes at full throttle.  Fun stuff
