I'm thinking of throwing a "Grand Opening/We've got guns!" cook out for the Tennessee (and Aimless too if he can' manage a quick trip to see his "special lady friend").
I don't have a date in mind, most likely mid-late July. Anyone around here interested in some free burgers, dogs, Coke, chips? *let me be clear, this is not a "hey, come on by and buy some gear" thing. It's more like a "Why don't we have our own version of the DFW crew?" DIRECTIONS: I-40 / I-75 exit 376 Pellissippi Pkwy / TN-162 N / Oak Ridge TN-162 N turns into TN-62 W Follow in to Oak Ridge where TN-62 W becomes Illinois Ave. Turn left on Tulsa Rd. at light past Shoney's CCA is the two story tan building on right about 100 yds. |
I'm in let me know when. Im just about 30min from OR anyway. Always good to meet people with similar intrests. Whats the store hours anyway?? need to drop by and check it out sometime.
Hey, we'd love to have ya come by!
Our 'posted' hours are 10-5p m-f and anytime other than that with an email or phone call. We're going to be expanding our hours in a few weeks when we get all of our firearms in. |
Well, have you thought about mentioning WHERE YOUR STORE IS????? I have no idea where you're located nor where your store is. |
We're in Oak Ridge, TN, about 15 minutes from Knoxville.
Specifically, we're at 114 Tulsa Rd. right off of Illinois. Any of the members from 'round these parts would probably find it to be worth their time to hang out and kick back with other TN locals. G_F might even let me run the grill myself. J. |
With sufficient notice I'd would be glad to come. I think there is one weekend in there where Ms. Aimless is coming up to the Great White North.
As Juggernaut said, we're in Oak Ridge TN. About 15 miles N of Knoxville and very, very easy to get to.
We have a nice 5 acre field beside the building, a nice covered patio and enough parking to accomidate anyone who would like to come. |
That might be an idea. Are there many AR15.com members attending? If not we will always welcome new shooters to the fold and bring them over to the ways of the black rifle. |
Well, I've got cousins in Kingston so I can kill two birds with one visit. Sounds like a plan to me.
Wow! We're getting lots of emails from people that are wanting to come. I even think the elusive DsrtEgl50 will be making the scene.
If anyone has any dates that don't work for them, let us konw so we can schedule it for the best possible time. Also if you have any special dietary needs you need to make us aware of those as well. As it stands now, we're looking at the following dates. July 11,12,13,18,19,20,25,26,27. |
Yeah, I'll probably be there.
I might be able to bring a cook or two and some entertainment as well, but I need a date to be sure. July 13th, 20th or 27th would be preferred, since Ter doesn't work on Sundays. Jonathan |
Well, I show 11.9 miles from I40 exit 376A. Go north on 140 to 162 to 62 and turn left on tuskeegee, go .4 miles and your there. (how close is that?) It may be worth it to stop by some time when I am going through K town. Do you have parking for a Semi?
If given enough notice, I'm sure that I and my my wife would like to attend.
X |
Right on! You'll be given plenty of notice. |
13 foot 4 inches by 5 foot? Hell, I couldn't even stand my truck on end to fit in that. It is 70' long, 9'6" wide and 13'6" tall!!!! Actually, I know what you meant. I will have to stop by some time and check things out. As to the get together, let me know when for sure and I will do my damndest to make it. As to parking in the field, that may not be a good idea if I come in the truck. 80,000# is awfully heavy to sink to the hubs.
I didn't mean you could park in the field, we're going to reserve that for the standard Honda, Mitsubishi and occasional Ford driver. Anyway, the "field" is about 7 feet deep of packed gravel with a little green poking through. |
You might want to check your field it seems to be shrinking...
3 acres where cars and such can be parked, 2 acres where there stands a radio tower and transmitter.
Everyone I know visit's AR15.com or soon will.
Let me know if you want a schedule. There is a CMP/DCM Match this Saturday. Grab a AR and attend. It is open to the Public and new shooters are welcome. If not at least show up with some flyers about your business. It's just around the corner from you. |
We have decided on a tenative date...
Sunday July 20 Kick off time t/b/a |

I think I will be down in Oak Ridge for that weekend and will try to make it over for the cookout.
Wow, does this mean your FFL came in.....
Geez, I happier than hog in a mud pile for you guys. Count me in wouldn't miss it for the world. btw, make sure Xanadu shows this time. I think he's avoiding me for some odd, huh, regular reason. Actually really looking forward to meeting him. I know you guys don't want to commercialize this but you do have something I've been meaning to stop by and buy. Juggy can sell it to me on the sly. Your guests will never know. |
July the 20th sounds great! I'll probably be there and perhaps bring some others too. I had no idea, until recently, that you guys were so close. (I'm in Morristown, northeast of Ktown)
Sounds Great! John |

We need a headcount!

I'm not sure about the 20th, but I work in Oak Ridge so I need to stop by on my lunch break sometime. T.J. has mentioned you guys a few times. I work out at the lab, so I can't exactly bring any of my toys with me to work, but I'll try to stop in next week and say hey.
David |
Come on in, we've got plenty of new toys* for sale that even good 'ol TJ ain't seen yet.
Guess he'll have to wait until the cookout! You, well you don't. *Bushmaster Superlight "stubby" (2) Bushmaster Shorty Bushmaster A2 20" Glock 17,19,20,22,23s ....and we've got lots more coming in this week for our "open house, let's get together and eat some hotdogs, tell some lies and shame the DFW crew" cookout. |
THE COOKOUT IS THIS SUNDAY, AT 2pm RAIN or SHINE! call for directions 865-220-0240 |
See you there.........
Even if Xanadu isn't coming AGAIN! Responsiblities are hell on a guys social calender. Tj Edit to change name. Must have had Patrad on the brain. Wish he could make it too though. |

Don't count Xanadau out just yet. I've put my best man on the job and he could very well make a rare cameo.
We went grocery shopping today, got all the fixins. If all goes well this will become a regular event. So those of you attending the match at ORSA, swing on out after you're done and enjoy some good grub and great people. |
Hell, we spent half the work day shopping for cookout supplies and goodies. All you have to do is show up, Sunday the 20th at 2pm. And if you're going to be at ORSA, spread the word. Bring your friends. Give us a chance to meet our fellow East TN shooters. J. |

Well xanadu has a ton of commitments, at least 7 that I know of personally. However, xanadu may send his "second" as well as her boyfriend William.
Now if I hear about any of you dogs eyeballing my beautiful daughter, Juggernaut and I are going to flip a coin to see who gets to haunt (or hunt) you first. William will have to arm wrestle the loser of the coin toss to see who gets to go to Home Depot and buy the rope we are going to need when we catch up with you. |
If you want to, you can send your consignment piece(s) down with your second and her manly man.
Of course, it would be a lot better if you were to show personally, but we understand. |
A wise idea, are you sure that you want a Remington 7400 in 30.06 getting loose and mixing it up with the black rifle assortment? One mistake and think of the possible offspring.
However, If you think that you can move it, I'll send it and the G26. |
Cross breeding result: M1A1 with nylon stock! |
I know we can move them both, in record time. Already had a guy in the other day looking for one (30-06) in case Juggy had told you. I'll be kind to Will. I'll even let him win at arm wrestling. Best 2 out of 3 even. |
Everything is in place. All that's missing is you!
2pm tomorrow. |
Now, if you can't make it right at 2pm it ain't no biggie. This is a very relaxed gathering and we'll be grilling and socializing long into the night so come on when you can!
Yeah, there's a 20 foot tent(I know, I had to set it up), and tables and comfy chairs and a grill, and charcoal, and hotdogs and hamburgers, and drinks and I'M COOKING, WOOHAH!
BE THERE! J. |
I'll be sure to eat before I come then |
Why? Will isn't working the grill. Trevor is, and you can pitch in if you wanna. Of course you must remove the 10mm prior to using any grilling utensils. |
I dunno, never had WHOOHAH! and Im kinda reluctant to try it |
Oh, it's really good on toast. We bought a full case of it at the local market.
