So I have a CCW from Kansas and I'm moving to Texas, I know Texas honors the Kansas permit. My question is should I take the Texas CHL or do you think I'm good to go until my Kansas one expires? I still have 3 years on my Kansas one.

Is your Kansas still valid since you would no longer be a resident or is it a non-resident permit?

I would get a Texas CHL, Texas laws are different than Kansas. The big problem in Texas if you screw up and break a law it can hit you pretty hard both both in penalties and in the pocket book.

Kansas also does NOT have a non-resident version of their CHL.  Unless you maintain residency in KS, you really should consider a TX CHL.  Also when you go to make a firearm purchase, you will simply complete a 4473 take your new toy home.

TX also has reciprocity with more states than KS.

As others have said the course will explain TX law with regards to carrying concealed.
