Does he need a modem? I have two extras, (free/no EE)..... an external US Robotics, and an OEM Dell internal that's brand new, still in package - never opened. (Got a bad one once in a new PC, and they sent me two replacemens by mistake)
If this would help him, someone let me know. I'd even consider meeting him part way.....(awesome excuse to go to Magoos tonight)

He lives in a condo complex. I should get him to dump 30 bucks on an a USB 802.11b adapter and he can bootleg free internet access.

UPDATE-
He is fine- Still hoping the modem gets here tommorrow. simple I got one for $6 at REPC. BTW- He went out this morning and now looks like this....  |

WOOHOO!!!
Got home from the PX and The Brown Truck was sitting in front of my condo. Got the same exact modem.  Unplugged each connection, one at a time, and plugged it into the new one. Since it's an external broadband modem, hooked up to our network router, I didn't even have to reboot.
