i have been wearing 511 HRT's down here in LA/MS and they are doing great very comfortable and have held up to swamps and debris fields  and working 16 hour day with no problems, boots are different for everyone 6 out of 7 of my team love them the other guy says they cause blisters so YMMV

OK, I decided to try some cheap boots and I'm glad I did. I bought some of the Herman Survivors, Commanders from Wally World (I know). I've been wearing them over a year and I'm going to buy another pair. They're comfortable, waterproof, and CHEAP. 42 bucks. They even hold a shine well.

When I was a LEO I managed to get away with wearing black jungle boots.

Timberland Pit Boss.

They have crappy insoles but that is easily fixed. The pair I have on now have been worn almost every day for 3 years and are still going strong, plus they are great on concrete. Keep in mind that if whatever you do involves standing on a concrete floor all day, make sure you have some thick cussioning in the soles.

I wear 10" Matterhorns in the winter and 8" the rest of the time. The 8" I wear to work frequently (office type work), and they never get hot.

The 10" I've had for 3-4 years and the look like new, and I'm not gentle with ANYTHING, much less footwear. I typically go through a pair of shoes in a year.

I was shopping for Danners when I found the 8" boots for $61.

Altama, standard mil-spec.  Reasonably comfortable and seem to last pretty long.
