I Expressed mine so that it would get there this morning so I hope it was worth the nearly $20 in postage. I didn't have the 6+ hours to drive down to Madison and drop the permit off in person yesterday so I figured this was the next best thing. 10K sure seems like alot of apps to be fighting to get to the front of the line though.. |

Quoted: Quoted: Assuming 4apps/hour * 18 workers that's about 17 days to process all of them..... Well within their 45day limit. JB needs to dig in and get his hands dirty. And assign some more people too. The more people they assign, the more expensive the permit gets. I may not like the wait but I can accept the fact the operational costs should come from the permit fees. Self funded. That said, JB would be wise to get some camera time digging in. He might win back some support recently lost from folks. Of course I think many other aspects of government should be operated the same with without taxpayer subsidy and that doesn't happen... |

I thought about that. But about a year ago, I won a Pick4 lottery prize that had to be claimed in either Madison or Milwaukee. I mailed it to the Madison Lottery HQ on a Monday with "delivery confirmation". It got scanned in at 9:30am the next day. (I got the check back on Friday... I was amazed it came so fast). Another factor... I worked at USPS as a rural carrier. Certified, registered, delivery confirmation, etc. didn't move any faster through the system than 1st class... sometimes it was even slower. The only thing Express gets you is a guarentee it'll be there the next day. So... ??? Yours is there. Mine might be there, it might not. |

I'm sure as the new temps work the permits, they will get faster and more efficient. I'm sure there will be a lot of questions at first, which might slow them down, but as they get more experience, they should whip through them. What do you think? 500 apps to be a seasoned pro? 1000? |

We could have gotten everyone in the area in a single envelope. I figured it didn't matter what time I dropped it off and that it would get there the same time anyway. I dropped my off on the West Side at 6:00 and it got to Madison this morning at 8:20ish. |

Any word on how many applications were received ("officially") on Wednesday, and how many were processed? I can't find anything, other than someone on a forum saying about 10K were delivered to DOJ yesterday by USPS, but there was no source given. +1 I'm hoping they have some sort of public reporting on how they are doing in there...but that's probably not cost efficient. |

Quoted: I dropped mine off at the post office drop box on 11/1 at about 11am or so from the North side of Milwaukee, using one stamp. This morning, my bank had posted that my check was cashed on 11/2 Now lets see how long the turn around time is. Nice! I bet you get it in Friday's mail. |

Quoted: I just mailed it. Figured i'd be there soon enough. Had I known that you could drop it off in person, I would have done so. Same thing here. I live 5 minutes from the Milw St post office, 14 minutes from the DOJ office. Sent it priority mail from Milw St. Should have dropped it off in person, didn't know we could. Damn. Just checked, check has not been cashed yet, and post office said it hit there at 5:06 am tuesday. Bummer. |

I am very curious as to the number of permits issued today. I know my application is there as of Nov 2, I just want to know what my longest realistic wait time would be. 45 days That's why I said realistic, I refuse to believe it will be 45 days |

That's my guess. Give or take a few days depending how far you live from Madison. |

those numbers are in line with what I was thinking would show up on Thursday. I would guess that they are doing 300-500 applications a day. Hopefully they can do more than 500 a day. At that rate with 30k applications it would take 60 days, longer than required by law. |

As of Monday afternoon, 1,669 licenses to carry concealed weapons had been approved and 339 had been rejected, DOJ spokeswoman Dana Brueck said.
from this story this morning ––-> link Anybody still think they are going to make 45 days
|
| That means they are only processing around 400 per day. And if they have 10 people working on it 8 hours a day, thats only 5 per hour per person. Seems kind of slow. Hopefully the relaxed training law will help speed things up. Otherwise they arent going to make it for the 45 day limit. |
|
my question is.... since the hunters ed card for Wisconsin doesn't have how many hours of training posted on it, if they rejected those at first but are now accepting them.... I would be pissed and wouldn't doubt it that mine is one of the rejected if thats the case and I will have to pay another 50 dollars and wait longer. |

As of Monday afternoon, 1,669 licenses to carry concealed weapons had been approved and 339 had been rejected, DOJ spokeswoman Dana Brueck said.
As of 4pm Friday, they had only processed 996 total (including rejections). As of noon Monday, figure now is 1,669 approved + 339 rejections = 2008 total processed. So between 4pm Friday and noon Monday they did another 1,012, or more than all last week? They must've worked on them both Saturday & Sunday... no way they did another 1,012 on just Monday morning before noon & Friday after 4. They seem to have picked up the pace too... they averaged 282 per day last wed/thurs/fri. If they keep a 500+ day average, they just might make the 45 day deadline. There's been 25,000 submitted since the 1st day (incoming is starting to slow down a bit), that'd be 50 days at 500 per day, and 2,000 have been done. I wonder how many of those rejections will get another look, with the DOJ's training certificate requirements nullified? I'm betting most of the rejections were "old" training certificates, that did not have the language required by the emergency rules. |

Hunters safety doesn't need the hours listed... it's a state run program and they know how long it is. |

Still kinda slow though... last week they were averaging only 2 per hour per person!!! When a FFL calls DOJ for a background check, it's usually less than a 5 minute call. What are they doing with the other 25 minutes? |

In another odd twist, I sent out a copy of the FAQ, and application to an Amish friend of mine. Very in to firearms. Shot my MG's and loves them. Loads his own ammo. Going hunting on his land. He does have a hunter's safety, but not sure if he has a state issued photo ID or not. I know they are not fond of pictures...
Not sure if he'll fill it out, but he'll be happy to know that if he's in the open, he can have an uncased or loaded handgun. |
