I'm looking to shorten my 700 about 5 inches and was wondering if anyone knows someone who can do this near the chicago suburbs? any help would be appreciated.

Call the Gun Doctor in Roselle.  They have been acquiring more machining equipment lately.  Otherwise, ADCO is the place.  I don't trust that many people.


ETA:  DSA had a complete bolt action smithy.  They had a precision bolt action rifle out about 5 or 6 years ago that was supposed to be great.  You might give them a try.  They seem to be looking for business of any kind.
